Job Description

ORGANISATIONAL CONTEXT (department, reporting relationships)

Working within a small Engineering Enablement team, the role will cover a wide range of projects and technologies. The team focuses on both anticipating future needs beyond the Product Development teams to ensure early technology decisions align with the long-term aims of the business, and assisting with the delivery of larger projects as foundational services within the platform are required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITY

As a hands-on software engineer within the Engineering Enablement team, working alongside the Product Development teams, the role requires knowledge of a broad range of technologies and a long-term perspective on how the engineering function should prepare to meet the ambitious product roadmap. Strong communication skills are essential to collaborate with various stakeholders and shape the technical direction of the business.

  • Investigate performance and stability improvements across all products.
  • Research potential new technologies and their integration into the existing product roadmap.
  • Build out new services as needed to support the wider StarCompliance platform.
  • Assist in realizing the architectural plans of the Star Platform.
  • Collaborate with Product Management to develop a technical roadmap supporting the product roadmap.
  • Ensure adherence to engineering best practices and coding standards.
Skills & Experience
  • Commercial experience working on enterprise-level applications.
  • Experience with cloud computing technologies within the Azure platform.
  • Proven track record in developing large and complex software projects.
  • Experience with relational database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL).
  • Strong communication skills, capable of presenting complex technical concepts to various stakeholders.
  • Genuine interest in engaging across teams to develop optimal solutions.
  • Ability to translate loosely defined problems into strategic plans.
  • Quick learner of new technical skills and frameworks.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Standard hours per week with flexible location options, including travel to other sites (York, UK) as required.
