The Spacecraft Control & Operations Facility (SCOF) comprises all Ground Equipment, Computers & Software and connectivity across multiple sites required to effect Command and Control of the SKYNET Constellation of spacecraft. At the core of the SCOF is the Spacecraft Control Centre, also distributed across multiple sites, which comprises the main computer systems which host the main C2 Software applications and provide the operator workstations. HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE TEAM Sys Admin expert for the installation of the SKYNET 6A Spacecraft Control Centre and computer systems across the SCOF network, in order to bring it into service Perform general computer configuration and maintenance activities including equipment swap-out, reconfiguration and restoration of capability. Use of network skills to ensure SCC works well with existing SCOF equipment and networks. CISCO CCNP Enterprise certification is an advantage on appointment and essential longer term. Assist SCOF Eng team in investigation and rectification SCOF system problems raised through internal tracking processes. Be Lead SCC Engineer (SK6A) for development of roll out plans for deployment of system upgrades, enhancements, including software patches and fixes. Development and implementation (in a specific test environment) of robust test procedures and scripts to manage system changes, fixes, and supplier delivered upgrades prior to operational deployment. Satellite AIT Electrical Systems Engineer Clearance: SC Clearance Required Location: Stevenage - Full tim on site Rate: 55 / hr (Inside IR35) Duration: Initially 12 Months The Role: Preparation of test procedures, writing and debugging test sequences for Satellite system testing during ambient and environmental test campaigns. Preparing, debugging and executing complex test sequences on flight spacecraft and test benches. Providing first-line support to the test operations team and supporting non-conformance reviews in a technical capacity. Writing test reports and supporting test reviews. The Company: Global technology manufacturing company. Your experience: Experience in writing and debugging test sequences and procedures. Experience of working on Test systems Experience on either C or Java (client uses a bespoke system, these are similar) Systems engineer in space or aerospace Your skills Current hands-on experience of writing test sequences/scripts for execution of spacecraft tests from the Central Checkout System (CCS). Knowledge of Elisa and JAVA would be an advantage. Working knowledge of TMTC Databases. Spacecraft systems and subsystem technical knowledge and awareness is essential, e.g. Data Handling, Packet Utilisation Standard, Data Bus Communications - 1553, Spacewire, Attitude &, Orbital Control, Star Trackers, Gyros, Momentum Wheels, power systems, batteries, Solar Arrays, Thermal Control, heaters, thermostats, FDIR, Spacecraft Configuration Vectors etc. Programming and scripting languages, particularly writing and debugging Linux/Unix bash scripts is an advantage. Knowledge of a programming language such as C, Java, python, TCL, VBA would be useful but not essential. Competent in the use of various test equipment used for electrical measurements, e.g. DMM, oscilloscope, current probes, Data acquisition unit, data bus monitors (1553 MilBus and SpaceWire probes/analysers) would be an advantage. The successful candidate will be required to hold SC level of security clearance and be a UK National prior to commencement of the contract.

A vacancy for a Payload Systems Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space located in Corsham. The main focus of this role is to ensure that the Airbus in-orbit Spacecraft Payload activities are conducted safely to maximise the useful life of the spacecraft. The role requires excellent analytical skills and problem solving capability and due to the nature of this role there may be some UK and European travel required. This is a small expert team who work closely across many project sub teams and with this role there is potential scope to be part of the new generational spacecraft project. Monitor new spacecraft during Payload definition, Integration, Subsystem and System Level phases. Support, schedule, analyse and report on the results for spacecraft through life testing. Provide payload and RF Systems expertise support to other business areas within the company and parent companies on various bids and projects.
