Location: Swindon
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 + Bonus
Type: Full-time, Permanent
Qualification: Part-qualified ACCA/CIMA or actively studying

As the company continues to grow, they are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join their finance team and support core accounting functions.

The Role

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Assistant Accountant will play a key role in supporting month-end processes, maintaining financial records, and ensuring accurate reporting. This is a fantastic opportunity for a part-qualified accountant looking to develop their career in a dynamic and fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with month-end and year-end close, including journal postings and accrualsPrepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliationsSupport budgeting and forecasting activitiesAssist with cost accounting and analysis of manufacturing variancesMaintain the fixed asset register and support capital expenditure trackingProcess intercompany transactions and reconciliationsPrepare VAT returns and support other tax-related filingsAssist with audit preparation and respond to queriesSupport inventory accounting and liaise with operations on stock movementsCollaborate with internal departments to ensure accurate financial dataContribute to process improvements and automation initiatives

Experience & Skills Required

Part-qualified ACCA/CIMA or actively studyingPrevious experience in a finance role, ideally within manufacturing or industrial sectorsStrong understanding of double-entry accounting and financial controlsProficient in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs); experience with ERP systems desirableExcellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlinesStrong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionallyProactive mindset with a willingness to learn and take ownership
