Your Purpose As a Senior Civil Engineer within one of our four business units, you'll provide engineering technical direction, collaborate with key stakeholders and support multi-disciplinary project teams. You'll provide design support for numerous schemes and ensure all designs are fit for purpose and meet current legislation and standards, and completed on time and within budget. A key aspect of this role includes leading, coaching, and developing junior and less experienced engineers. What You'll Be Doing Check and review civil design deliverables produced by other Civil Engineers to ensure the processes and procedures are followed. Input into Construction Design Management (CDM) and commissioning strategy meetings. Review and ensure the design CDM deliverables have been completed for projects. Maintain portfolio awareness in technical areas and disseminate knowledge across the civil engineering team. Ensure compliance with Minimum Asset Standards and provide constructive challenges when necessary. Work across Alliance project areas and Pan-Alliance to establish technical common standards and processes. Implement and embrace new digital technologies to achieve fully attributed 3D models. Provide one-on-one or team-based technical guidance and support to engineers. Develop design alerts to promote continuous learning and improvement. About You You will ideally have: Degree in engineering (or equivalent) and ideally chartered or working towards it. Expertise in reinforced concrete, steel buildings, buried pipework, and site infrastructure. Strong leadership, mentoring, and stakeholder management skills. Passion for health, safety, and innovative design solutions. Depending on your skills, experience, and interests, you could be aligned to one of our four business units: Place Based Thinking The Place Based Thinking team delivers some of the largest and most complex projects across Alliance. Made up of six Senior Project Manager teams, we oversee 19 catchments, covering key sites such as Whitlingham, Flag Fen, Great Billing, Cotton Valley, Bedford, Colchester, and Ipswich Cliff Quays. These projects involve managing all parts of the network from rising and gravity mains, pumping stations, high spilling overflows, and water recycling centres. Water The Water Business Unit provides strategic support across the clean water network, covering both system performance and infrastructure planning. We assess the future hydraulic state of the network in response to population growth and increased demand, support the design and delivery of capital and infrastructure schemes to ensure hydraulic resilience, and work with optimisation teams to enhance overall network efficiency. Water Recycling (East and West) Our Water Recycling Business Unit, split into East and West regions, is responsible for the collection, conveyance, and treatment of wastewater across an extensive network. We operate over 76,000km of sewerage infrastructure and 1,163 treatment centres, ensuring safe and sustainable discharge to the environment while driving innovation and environmental performance. Location: Peterborough / Anglian Water sites Help Build a Resilient Water Future Through Leadership, Quality and Collaboration Join the Alliance - a collaborative partnership of eight industry-leading companies (Anglian Water, Balfour Beatty, Barhale, Binnies, MMB, MWH Treatment, Skanska, and SWECO) delivering over half of Anglian Water's capital investment programme. As we move into AMP8, we're gearing up to deliver an ambitious pipeline of infrastructure projects that support sustainable growth, environmental protection and long-term resilience for communities across the East of England. We are now looking for a Site Manager to join our delivery team - someone with a proactive mindset and a passion for quality and safety in construction delivery. Your Purpose As a Site Manager, you will lead site-based delivery activities on complex infrastructure projects, ensuring construction works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. Working closely with the Construction Manager, you will coordinate subcontractors, manage resources, and oversee day-to-day operations to meet project milestones. What You'll Be Doing Manage and coordinate site activities in line with the construction programme, including subcontractor performance, resources, and materials. Lead by example in ensuring all safety, quality, and environmental management systems are adhered to and embedded on site. Support project handover and ensure all works are completed to a safe-to-operate (STO) standard at DM4. Maintain site compliance with assurance requirements (CSIR, CEIR, CQIR), working alongside the Delivery Assurance Manager. Monitor and manage budgets in coordination with the Cost Manager; approve site expenditure, timesheets, and GRNs in line with governance. Review and approve subcontractor RAMS, manage site requisitions, and ensure plant and materials are utilised efficiently. Take ownership of the rework list, ensuring timely resolution and submission for construction assurance. Collaborate with the Project Delivery Team to support programme, cost and quality reporting, and risk management. Support change management processes and accurate use of CCMS for cost control and purchasing. Liaise with Anglian Water operations staff to ensure seamless asset transition and operational readiness. Lead and motivate the site team, promoting a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement. About You We're looking for an experienced and confident Site Manager with strong leadership skills and a solid background in infrastructure delivery, ideally in the water or utilities sector. You will bring: Demonstrable experience managing large-scale construction projects with a value of £20 million or more, preferably within the infrastructure or regulated utility sectors. A proven track record of successfully delivering complex site operations in line with time, cost and quality targets. Strong understanding of health, safety, environmental and quality standards in a live site environment. Experience managing subcontractors and supply chain partners to meet programme objectives. Commercial awareness and confidence in managing site budgets, cost reporting, and procurement systems. Familiarity with project assurance and governance processes, including change control and risk mitigation. The ability to lead, engage, and develop site teams, while maintaining excellent stakeholder relationships. A construction-related qualification is desirable. Experience working within alliance or collaborative delivery models, along with knowledge of CCMS and digital site management tools, will be advantageous. Why Join Us?
