Do you want a flexible support role in a great school? Are you looking to get some classroom experience? Do you have an interest in the creative subjects? Tradewind Recruitment are working closely with an 'Outstanding' co-educational academy in the London Borough of Merton who are currently looking to appoint a DT Technician to provide technical support for the teaching of the creative subjects at the Academy. The school are recruiting for an experienced and committed DT Technician who will become an integral member of the DT Department within the wider Creative and Performing Arts and Technology Faculty. The DT curriculum is rich and varied, blending theoretical learning with practical application, and promoting computer aided design and manufacture across all key stages. Main Areas of Responsibility As DT Specialist Technician, your responsibilities will include the following: To prepare materials and equipment for practical Workshop, Graphics and Art lessons To maintain and monitor consumables and equipment in D&T to ensure all pupils are able to access a wide range of resistant materials and processes as part of their Design Technology provision To maintain and monitor stock control To assist the Head of Department in the ordering of materials and equipment To carry out weekly material and equipment checks across all Technology rooms To assist staff in the production and updating of Technology displays To assist teaching staff in promoting and raising the profile of D&T within and outside the school To assist staff in the demonstration and application of machinery use to students. To be proficient in the use of the range of CAM equipment and provide technical support during lesson time To provide technical support to staff during lesson time as required Carry out weekly Health and Safety checks on all equipment and machinery and report directly to the Head of Department To maintain machinery and equipment in accordance with health and safety requirements, including CAM To also provide technical support across media and PE in terms of equipment maintenance etc. To undertake any Health and Safety training as required by the HOD Carry out a range of administration duties including preparing cover work, teaching materials and booklets Qualifications & Experience We are looking for: Basic knowledge of Health and Safety regulations Experience working with technology equipment and resources Experience or understanding of working as a technician in an educational establishment, undertaking a range of practical tasks To join us and be successful in the role: - Hold an enhanced DBS, Overseas Police Clearance (if applicable) and professional reference checks (you can apply through Tradewind and get the cost of the DBS refunded after 20 days of working with us) Your CV must cover 10 years of employment Legal right to work in the UK Tradewind are well-known for offering top rates of pay, more CPD (52 in total) than any other agency, a great referral bonus (up to £100 per person referred - sop even if you are not looking, do get in touch with your referrals_ and termly networking and social events.
