Project Overview
3D Personnel is working closely with our client which is working on a flagship UK infrastructure programme with a value in excess of 200 million, involving the construction of a new electrical substation. The project scope includes heavy civil engineering works, extensive earthworks, controlled demolition, reinforced concrete frames, and piling operations.
The contractor is a principal delivery partner on behalf of a national utility provider and is seeking to bolster its site-based commercial team for the next phase of development.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all site-based quantity surveying activities, working closely with project and commercial teams
- Administer and manage contracts under NEC forms, ensuring timely processing of early warnings, compensation events, and instructions
- Prepare accurate cost reports, forecasts, valuations, and subcontractor accounts
- Evaluate and manage risk and variations in accordance with contract terms
- Support procurement processes, subcontractor management, and interim payments
- Provide mentoring and guidance to a junior QS onsite, contributing to their professional development
- Maintain clear communication with stakeholders and ensure records align with reporting requirements
- Attend regular site progress meetings and contribute to commercial strategy
Skills & Qualifications
- Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management (postgraduate qualification advantageous but not essential)
- Proven track record on civils-heavy projects, ideally infrastructure or energy-related schemes
- Demonstrable experience in NEC3/NEC4 contracts (certification preferred)
- Comfortable working in a site-focused role (minimum 3 days per week onsite)
- Capable of supporting and mentoring junior team members
- Strong commercial acumen, communication skills, and attention to detail
- Proficiency in contract administration and industry-standard reporting tools
