IT Technician (PC/Server Build) Burton-on-Trent Full Time, Permanent
On-site (Must Drive)

My client, a specialised technology solutions provider, is looking for an IT Technician with a passion for hardware, attention to detail, and the ambition to grow. This is a hands-on, varied opportunity to join a small, dynamic team where you ll construct enterprise-ready servers and machines tailored for clients that rely on robust, on-premise IT infrastructures.

You ll play a key role in the end-to-end system build process from hardware assembly to software configuration and testing ensuring everything meets rigorous technical specifications. It s a great chance to develop your capabilities under the mentorship of the Technical Director and build a career that blends technical execution with broader project exposure.

What you ll be doing:

  • Building, configuring and testing server and PC systems

  • Installing and configuring operating systems and applications

  • Preparing full rack builds, cabling, and peripherals

  • Creating accurate build/test documentation and audit records

  • Supporting onsite and remote customer demos, testing and deployments

  • Collaborating cross-functionally to improve processes and gain new technical exposure

What you ll bring:

  • Strong hardware knowledge (e.g., motherboards, graphics cards, storage)

  • Practical experience assembling and configuring PCs or servers

  • Comfort with Windows operating systems and basic network setup

  • Good documentation and communication skills

  • Ability to fault-find, troubleshoot and ensure consistent quality

  • A full UK driving licence

Nice to have:

  • Familiarity with enterprise-grade hardware and networking

  • General mechanical/electrical understanding (e.g., wiring, tools)

  • Experience in customer-facing support or installation roles

  • Certifications like CompTIA, MCP or equivalent are a bonus
