Job Opportunity: Civil Engineer (Building Design) Temporary Contract
Are you a skilled Civil Engineer looking for a flexible and rewarding opportunity? We are seeking a motivated individual to join our Infrastructure team, supporting a variety of exciting design and construction projects across the UK.
Position Details:
- Location: Flexible work from any of our offices in Glasgow, Newcastle, Leeds, Manchester, Bristol, Cardiff, or Birmingham
- Start Date: ASAP
- Initial Contract Duration: 6 months (with potential extension based on workload)
- Hours: 37.5 per week
- Working Arrangement: Hybrid (minimum 3 days in-office)
- Rate: Negotiable based on experience and skills
- Expenses: Covered for travel to/from project sites
- Notice Period: 1 week (contractor), 4 weeks (employer)
- Security Vetting Level: B
About the Role:
You ll be part of a national Building Design Practice, contributing to the delivery of small to medium infrastructure projects. This is a non-location-specific role offering remote work flexibility or access to any of our UK offices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver technically focused civil engineering designs
- Produce designs in line with relevant standards and codes
- Ensure high-quality engineering services
- Manage your time effectively
- Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams
- Adhere to BIM standards and project execution plans
Requirements:
- Honours Degree in Civil Engineering (preferred) or HND/equivalent experience
- Working towards ICE chartership
- Experience in drainage, utilities, pavement design, earthworks, and construction logistics
- Familiarity with UK design standards
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civils 3D (Revit/BIM 360 desirable)
- Strong communication and report writing skills
- Ability to work independently and in teams
- Willingness to embrace digital engineering and automation
- Driving licence and SC clearance (desirable)

Security Clearance:
