The Role of the Design Engineer

As a Design Engineer, you ll be involved in the full lifecycle of product development from concept through to production. You ll work on a diverse range of mechanical and mechatronic systems, using tools such as 3D CAD, FEA, and design quality methodologies like Failure Tree Analysis.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Lead and deliver design projects within agreed timelines

  • Develop design concepts and ensure they meet quality, cost, and delivery targets

  • Create layout models and detailed drawings, including BOMs and documentation for sales and service

  • Define and coordinate testing requirements, analyse results, and implement necessary design changes

  • Manage outsourced design activities

  • Resolve technical issues using structured problem-solving tools

  • Liaise with internal teams, suppliers, and customers across global sites

About You Design Engineer

We re looking for a proactive and creative engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys solving complex design challenges.

Other requirements include:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)

  • At least 5 years of experience in a mechanical design role

  • Strong proficiency in 3D CAD software

  • Experience with hydraulic systems is highly advantageous

  • Familiarity with the full development cycle, from concept to testing
