Job Description

Our client based in Frankley, Birmingham, is searching for a CAD / CAM Programmer Machinist / Inspector to join their team on a 37-hour working week over 4 days rotating between Monday to Thursday and Tuesday to Friday 07 45.

Summary of position:

The post holder will support CAD design and CAM programming efforts, and CNC machinist and inspection of final items.

Serve as a key liaison between engineering, production, and customers. This role is also key in managing project timelines, contribute to RFQs, ensuring smooth and cost-effective production.

Primary Responsibilities / Key Accountabilities:

  • Support all CAD design and modelling efforts for the business.
  • Collaborate with customer design teams to interpret, adapt, and optimise 3D models. Provide technical guidance to ensure customer requirements are translated accurately into production-ready designs.
  • Collaborate with the manufacturing team to support CAM programming requirements.
  • Assist in the development and refinement of toolpaths and machining strategies when required.
  • Contribute to process improvements by aligning CAD design intent with CAM programming requirements.
  • Programme, set and operate 3 and 5 axis CNC machinery, to produce and finish syntactic materials.
  • Support the workflow, from initial design to final production, ensuring safe working practices, and quality and efficiency targets are achieved.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimisation and cost reduction while maintaining product quality.
  • Participate and contribute to multiple projects, ensuring alignment with budgets, schedules, and customer expectations.
  • Correct any errors in job programmes or setting at the earliest possibility, minimising waste and re-work and checking the new settings reliably produce Grade A product.
  • Carry out quality assurance checks and report any imperfections reporting any incidents of non-conformance to your Line Manager.
  • Maintain equipment, materials, and post-processing practices.
  • Any other reasonable task that falls within your job remit, as instructed by your line manager.
