Pay: 13.69 to 15.87 per hour

Reeson Education is recruiting a passionate and resilient Teaching Assistant for a fantastic SEMH alternative provision in the M30 area. This full-time, long-term Teaching Assistant role is to start in September and offers the chance to make a real difference in the lives of pupils with a wide range of needs.

The school caters to primary-aged children (EYFS to KS2) with SEMH and associated needs, including developmental delays, trauma, anxiety, and more complex behaviours. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting individual pupils, small groups, and the wider class team through engaging, therapeutic learning experiences.

Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support as a Teaching Assistant
• Lead phonics interventions, guided reading, and targeted literacy sessions
• Engage pupils in creative and playful outdoor learning
• Support classroom routines and learning through structure and positive reinforcement
• Adapt learning approaches as a Teaching Assistant to suit individual pupil needs
• Deliver activities that promote social, emotional, and academic development
• Use de-escalation techniques and a trauma-informed approach
• Build strong, trusting relationships as a consistent and reliable Teaching Assistant

Teaching Assistant Requirements:

• Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a primary, SEMH or alternative provision setting
• Confidence supporting a wide range of abilities and complex needs
• A calm, nurturing, and adaptable approach to behaviour and communication
• Knowledge of phonics and guided reading strategies
• A genuine passion for making a difference as a Teaching Assistant
• Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to apply)
• Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification preferred but not essential
