Job Title: Technical Director / Associate Director - Planning

We're working with one of the UK's most progressive multi-disciplinary consultancies to appoint a Planning Technical Director or Associate Director for their growing team in Leeds.

This is a leadership-level role suited to someone with a strong planning background and a passion for shaping major infrastructure, environmental, and development projects across the UK.

The role
You'll join a national team of over 60 planners within a wider Environment Practice that's driving innovation in sustainable infrastructure, Net Zero, ESG, and digital transformation. As a senior member of the team, you'll lead on key projects, manage client relationships, support business growth, and mentor colleagues.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering high-quality town planning consultancy services across major infrastructure and development schemes

  • Leading bids, managing resources, and ensuring governance and commercial oversight

  • Building strong client relationships and identifying new work opportunities

  • Collaborating with technical teams across planning, environment, transport, and energy

  • Managing and developing junior team members through coaching and reviews

  • Supporting the strategic growth of the Northern planning team

What we're looking for:

  • Chartered RTPI planner with a strong academic and professional background

  • Extensive planning experience in consultancy or a similar environment

  • Strong commercial awareness and experience managing large-scale infrastructure projects

  • Proven leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills

  • A collaborative mindset and the confidence to drive innovation and growth
