Head of Workforce Development

Benefits

As Head of Workforce Development you will lead and champion inclusive, values-led people practices whilst shaping the approach to recruitment, training, wellbeing, retention, and employee engagement; ensuring teams feels valued, supported, and value-aligned. As a key member of the SLT, you'll oversee the Workforce Development team and help shape the strategic direction of the organisation. From supporting co-produced training to embedding inclusive HR practices, your leadership will ensure attraction, development and retention of a diverse and empowered workforce.

The role

  • Leading on recruitment, performance management, wellbeing and retention strategies
  • Compliance with employment law and best practice
  • Developing and delivering inclusive and co-produced training programmes
  • Supporting managers with people-related challenges and confident decision-making
  • Embedding values-led HR practices
  • Overseeing the Workforce Development team
  • Using workforce data to drive improvement and inform strategy

About you

  • Senior-level experience in HR or workforce leadership
  • A confident, respectful and inclusive leadership style
  • Knowledge and understanding of working alongside autistic people and/or people with learning disabilities
  • A deep commitment to equality, diversity and co-production
  • Strong understanding of employment law and HR systems
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in a charity, social enterprise, or co-produced setting is highly desirable
  • Ability to travel across Kent and work from our Canterbury base at least 3 days a week
