Consultant Town Planner
Location: Bristol

Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting one of the UK's leading multi-disciplinary consultancy firms in their search for a Consultant-level Town Planner to join their well-established and forward-thinking Planning and Environmental team in the South West.

This award-winning consultancy is renowned for delivering transformative infrastructure and development projects across the UK and internationally. Their clients include major organisations such as government departments, national infrastructure bodies, local authorities, and private developers. They are at the forefront of sustainable planning, net zero strategies, and digital innovation in the built environment.



The Role:

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and ambitious Planner to contribute to a diverse portfolio of infrastructure, regeneration and development projects, working as part of a multi-disciplinary team that includes planners, engineers, and environmental consultants.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the preparation and management of planning applications (TCPA, DCO, TWAO, etc.)

  • Conducting site appraisals and delivering strategic planning advice

  • Preparing reports and presentations for clients and stakeholders

  • Working on high-profile residential, energy, infrastructure, and mixed-use schemes

  • Supporting bidding and tendering activities

  • Collaborating closely with senior planners and team leaders

  • Mentoring and supporting junior team members



About You:

  • Hold a degree in Town Planning or a related discipline

  • Have a minimum of 2 years' experience in planning (public or private sector)

  • Ideally working towards or already a member of the RTPI

  • Possess excellent communication and report-writing skills

  • Able to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

  • Enthusiastic, collaborative, and passionate about delivering high-quality planning outcomes

  • An understanding of consenting processes (TCPA, DCO, EIA) is highly beneficial
