Legal Counsel - 12 Month FTC

Salary - Between £70,000 and £85,000 depending on experience + annual bonus & benefits

Location - Edinburgh / Glasgow

Office Attendance - Our roles are hybrid, requiring travel to either our Edinburgh or Glasgow offices up to 3 days per week (at least 1 day in Edinburgh).

We're seeking a commercially-minded, solutions-oriented Legal Counsel to join our Legal team on a 12-month fixed-term contract at Tesco Bank, part of Barclays Bank UK Plc.

Our Legal Team oversees all aspects of Tesco Bank's business and acts as strategic advisors. This role is ideal for a commercial contracts lawyer with financial services experience or someone eager to develop in this area.

What you'll be doing

As Legal Counsel, you will identify and manage legal risks, providing targeted, commercially-focused legal advice on corporate, commercial, and regulatory matters, including:

• Negotiating and advising on third-party service, data, and software contracts
• Advising on general commercial and regulatory legal questions
• Supporting the integration of Tesco Bank with the wider Barclays business

We need you to have

• Qualified solicitor with a valid practising certificate in the UK (overseas certificates may be considered)
• Significant commercial legal experience, in-house or private practice
• Proven ability to deliver pragmatic, risk-based legal advice
• Strong relationship management skills with internal and external stakeholders

And if you have any of these, even better

• Experience in finance or technology sectors (advantageous)
• Experience in retail financial services (desirable)
