Job Opportunity: Band 7 Estates Manager (Mechanical)

Location: West London (Site-based - Monday to Friday)
Hours: 37.5 per week
Duration: Until November 2025
Contract: Full-time Temporary (Agency)

Are you a technically qualified Mechanical Estates Manager with a passion for delivering safe and compliant estate services in a healthcare environment? A new opportunity has opened for an experienced Band 7 Mechanical Estates Manager to join a busy London-based NHS team and take responsibility for critical engineering systems across multiple sites.



Role Overview

You'll play a key role in overseeing the delivery of mechanical services including water safety, heating, ventilation, and medical gas systems. This role involves managing in-house maintenance staff and external contractors to ensure statutory and operational compliance, service quality, and efficiency.



Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the management of mechanical engineering and water safety systems across NHS estates

  • Act as Authorised Person for relevant mechanical systems (e.g., heating, water, ventilation, medical gases)

  • Ensure full compliance with statutory regulations, HTMs/HBNs, and Trust policies

  • Manage and monitor maintenance contracts, SLAs, and contractor performance

  • Deliver effective PPM and reactive maintenance strategies

  • Provide technical and operational leadership to the mechanical team

  • Participate in on-call rota and respond to emergency incidents as required



Essential Skills & Experience

  • Degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services

  • Substantial experience in NHS estates or a similar regulated environment

  • Strong track record managing mechanical maintenance services and teams

  • Proven budget and contract management capabilities

  • Up-to-date knowledge of water safety, ventilation, and H&S legislation

  • Excellent communication, IT, and leadership skills

  • Full UK driving licence (manual & automatic)



Desirable

  • Membership of a relevant professional body

  • Project management experience

  • NHS experience is highly desirable



Additional Information

  • This is a site-based role (Monday-Friday, 8:00-16:30)

  • The role will require participation in an on-call rota

  • A Standard DBS check is required
