Senior / Principal Town Planner - Wiltshire

Location: Wiltshire (Hybrid Working Available)

Overview

As a Senior or Principal Town Planner, you will play a pivotal role in managing a diverse portfolio of projects, from initial feasibility studies to planning applications, appeals, and inquiries. You will work closely with clients, stakeholders, and senior leadership to deliver pragmatic and commercially sound planning solutions.

This position is ideal for a Senior Town Planner seeking career progression or an established Principal Town Planner looking for a collaborative and flexible workplace.



Responsibilities

  • Prepare and manage a variety of planning applications and appeals.
  • Provide strategic and practical planning advice to clients across residential, rural, and mixed-use sectors.
  • Conduct site assessments, policy reviews, and pre-application discussions.
  • Represent clients at committee meetings, consultations, and appeals.
  • Collaborate with internal and external consultants while supporting junior planners.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring high-quality service delivery.


Qualifications

  • MRTPI qualified with relevant post-qualification experience as a Senior or Principal Town Planner.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the UK planning system and current policy landscape.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects and deliver results within deadlines.
  • Strong report writing, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.


Day-to-Day

  • Engage with clients to understand their objectives and provide tailored planning advice.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of planning applications and appeals.
  • Conduct site visits and liaise with local authorities and stakeholders.
  • Mentor and support junior team members, fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Attend planning committees, public consultations, and appeal hearings as required.
