We are looking to strengthen our Delivery team with a Project Engineer based in the Thames Water region with hybrid working available.
You will report directly to the Project Manager and assist the Project / Construction Manager in coordinating an effective and economic plant design and procurement strategy. You will ensure information is issued in time to enable construction, commissioning, and operation in line with the Contract Programme. Additionally, you will provide cost data for forecasts and evaluation of variations.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Ensure project costs do not exceed tender/varied allowance
- Ensure all applications for payment are made on or before the due date
- Complete and submit contract reviews and monthly forecasts on time
- Maintain good client relationships at all levels
- Assist with the Project Management strategy
- Establish and maintain contract filing systems
- Assist in producing the contract programme; monitor progress and produce reports
- Provide data for the timely production of O&M manuals
- Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers
- Coordinate with site management on design and procurement issues
- Monitor subcontractor performance
- Assist in preparing construction completion and takeover documentation
- Participate in external networking, conferences, and industry groups for professional development
- Maintain a positive, solution-oriented approach, providing honest feedback
- Undertake additional duties and training as required, consistent with the role's responsibilities
- Present a professional image and foster positive relationships internally and externally
- Ensure confidentiality of sensitive information
- Work closely with design departments to ensure timely and quality solutions
- Evaluate innovative solutions and processes
- Contribute to risk and opportunity schedules monthly
- Develop designs that are safe to construct, operate, and maintain
- Complete the capitalisation process
Essential qualifications and experience:
- Basic Electrical or Mechanical engineering background
- Knowledge of various contract conditions, especially NEC
- Engineering/Technical qualification (HNC minimum)
- Experience in supply chain management
- Knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes
- CDM & Health & Safety knowledge
