Our client, a leading multidisciplinary engineering and sustainability consultancy, is currently seeking a Senior Sustainability Consultant to join their growing team in either Cardiff or Bristol. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to innovative, sustainable solutions across a diverse range of high-impact projects.
The successful candidate will join a forward-thinking sustainability group, recognised for its leadership in sustainable design, construction, and operational strategies across the built environment. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and lead integrated sustainability strategies across a variety of projects.
- Manage and deliver environmental and wellbeing assessments including BREEAM, WELL, HQM, and others, from early-stage design through to project completion.
- Undertake technical modelling and assessments, such as embodied carbon, operational energy use, building performance simulation, and overheating risk.
- Support the creation of energy and sustainability strategies that challenge norms and drive innovation.
- Guide and mentor junior team members in technical delivery and project planning.
- Contribute to internal research and development programmes to maintain the team's position at the forefront of sustainability consultancy.
- Engage with wider industry through thought leadership, research contributions, and development of best practice guidance.
Desired Experience and Knowledge
Candidates should demonstrate knowledge and experience in some of the following:
- Energy and Building Performance
- Energy performance modelling (e.g. ApacheHVAC, IES, NABERS, Part L, Passivhaus)
- Overheating and thermal comfort analysis
- Net zero carbon planning and energy strategies
- Environmental Assessment and Planning Support
- BREEAM, WELL, HQM, Fitwel certifications
- Preparation of sustainability and energy statements for planning
- Whole life carbon assessments and circular economy principles
- Technical Tools & Methodologies
- Use of OneClick LCA or similar tools for embodied carbon
- Climate resilience and climate change assessments within Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs)
Candidate Profile
- A degree in a sustainability, environmental, engineering, or related discipline.
- Experience working in the built environment, ideally within a sustainability or engineering consultancy.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
- Passionate about delivering practical, sustainable design solutions and effecting meaningful change.
