Behaviour Support Assistant Alternative Provision

Location: Blandford Forum

Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent

We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Support Assistant to join our dynamic alternative provision, supporting both primary and secondary students.

Our alternative provision is a specialist educational setting designed to support young people who are unable to access mainstream education due to behavioural, emotional, social, or special educational needs. We aim to provide a safe, nurturing, and structured environment where students can develop essential skills, rebuild confidence, and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with behavioural and emotional needs, helping them engage with their learning.
  • Assist in implementing behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques.
  • Support individual students in accessing the curriculum and developing social skills.
  • Promote a calm and positive environment conducive to learning and personal development.
  • Collaborate with teachers, pastoral staff, and external agencies to support student progress.
  • Monitor and record student behaviour and progress.
  • Assist with daily routines, transitions, and maintaining a safe environment.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience working with children or young people, particularly those with behavioural challenges.
  • A strong understanding of behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, resilience, and a compassionate approach.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 Supporting Children and Young People, or equivalent) is desirable but not essential.
