The Orchestra Unwrapped Coordinator will play a crucial role in the Learning & Engagement Department, managing our flagship education work that supports our commitment to building a pipeline of exceptional and confident musicians. This role will involve on-site project delivery, representing the Orchestra with external partners and project participants, and facilitating our engagement with schools in London and across the Orchestra s UK residencies of Bedford, Leicester, Canterbury, Basingstoke.
Key Responsibilities
Planning:
Programming and delivering our schools concerts, including our flagship Orchestra Unwrapped series
Preparing and scheduling all materials, workshops, CPD/INSET, and resources for Orchestra Unwrapped
Planning schedules, budgets, and programmes for projects commissioned by music hubs and schools
Execution:
The delivery, monitoring, and reporting of Orchestra Unwrapped
Being the first point of contact for school partners, presenters, conductors, and general queries
Designing and allocating seating plans, ticketing, and coordinating school-based contributions to Orchestra Unwrapped (artwork, sit in sessions, etc)
The delivery, monitoring, and reporting of commissioned education projects
Managing project budgets as above
Responsibility for commissioning participation pieces and bespoke pieces for concerts
Deliver workshops and CPD for teachers, monitoring and reporting on quality and feedback
Collaboration:
Fixing and supporting the players, facilitators, and presenters within the projects, and planning any resources or briefings they need.
Supporting relationships with education organisations to support all our education related work, as appropriate
Creating management schedules for all staff involved in the concerts
Orchestra-Wide Responsibilities:
Undertake other such duties as may reasonably be required by the line manager.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential:
Experience of supporting the delivery of arts, music, or education projects and programmes
Experience of supporting the delivery of concerts
Excellent administrative skills
Excellent verbal and written skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Experience of working and communicating with a range of stakeholders, including musicians, partner organisations, animateurs, and participants
Ability to read music and understand orchestral scores
Proficiency with standard office software and computer systems
A flexible approach, and willingness to work unsocial hours (evenings and weekends) when required.
Desirable:
Ability to create reports and evaluations
Experience managing and reporting on budgets
Understanding and experience of the English school system
The role is subject to a full DBS check.
