Educational Support Worker

Are you passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning? Academics, a leading education recruitment agency, is currently looking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic Educational Support Worker to support pupils in SEN and alternative provision settings across Wolverhampton.

As an Educational Support Worker, you will be a vital part of the school community, providing both academic and emotional support to students with a range of complex needs. You will work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs and pastoral teams to ensure pupils receive the tailored assistance they need to thrive in a learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students in and out of the classroom
  • Support pupils with Special Educational Needs, including SEMH, ASD, and learning difficulties
  • Help implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies
  • Assist with the development of students' communication, independence, and social skills
  • Foster a positive and inclusive environment where every student feels safe and supported
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff and parents/carers
  • Encourage student engagement and motivation, promoting a love of learning
  • Contribute to safeguarding, wellbeing, and pastoral care practices

The ideal Educational Support Worker will:

  • Have experience working with children or young people with additional needs
  • Be patient, empathetic, and resilient in challenging situations
  • Demonstrate strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Have a flexible, proactive approach to working across various settings
  • Ideally hold relevant qualifications or training in education, youth work or SEN (not essential)
