Academics are working with a fantastic primary specialist school in Chippenham that supports children aged 4-11 with autism and related communication needs. The school is seeking a dedicated Autism Support Assistant to join their welcoming team ASAP on a full-time basis. This school is known for its nurturing approach and commitment to providing a highly individualised education for every child. As an Autism Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils' learning, emotional wellbeing, and personal development throughout the school day

Key Information:

  • Role: Autism Support Assistant
  • Pay: 85-100 per day (based on experience)
  • Location: Chippenham
  • Hours: Full-time (08:30-15:00, Term-time only)
  • Start Date: ASAP

Daily Responsibilities of an autism support assistant:

  • Supporting pupils with autism to access the curriculum in a way that meets their individual needs
  • Encouraging the development of communication, social, and life skills
  • Promoting independence and helping children to build confidence in the classroom
  • Assisting with sensory regulation and emotional wellbeing throughout the day
  • Working closely with teachers, therapists, and families to ensure consistent, high-quality support
  • Creating a positive and inclusive learning environment where every child can thrive

You'd make a great Autism Support Assistant if you:

  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Can work effectively as part of a team and independently when required
  • Remain calm, empathetic, and adaptable in challenging situations
  • Have a minimum of a grade C / level 4 in GCSE English and Maths
  • Have previous experience working with children (preferred but not essential)
  • Are genuinely passionate about supporting children with special educational needs, particularly autism
