Data Centre Consultant (Design and Construction)


Working with a leading consultancy / advisory firm specialising in the data centre industry to secure the services of a Data Centre consultant (design and construction) who are working with investors, developers, operators and enterprise clients on high-impact international projects.


Based in London / hybrid working, paying up to £90k base.


The Data Centre Consultant role would suit someone from a design, construction, and engineering background who wants to apply their experience across a broad range of client-facing, strategic, and technical advisory work.


As a Data Centre Consultant, you'll play a key role in supporting the delivery of advisory engagements across the full lifecycle of data centre development - from early site selection and feasibility through to design management, supply chain procurement, construction oversight, and commissioning strategy.



Key skills:

  • Experience in data centre design, construction or project delivery, ideally in an operator, engineering or contractor environment.
  • Proven understanding of critical systems design (mechanical, electrical, cooling, etc.) and data centre delivery best practices.
  • Strong communication and client-facing skills, with the ability to present complex ideas clearly.
  • A proactive mindset with an ability to adapt, learn, and solve problems in dynamic environments.
  • Comfortable working across multiple projects and collaborating with diverse teams.
  • Degree-qualified in Engineering, or a related discipline (Chartered status a plus).


Responsibilities:


  • Advise clients on the design and program delivery of data centre developments.
  • Support or lead engagements spanning technical due diligence, feasibility assessments, design oversight, procurement support, and construction strategy.
  • Provide subject matter input across MEP systems, layouts, infrastructure resilience, phasing strategies, and buildability.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including design consultants, PMs, engineers, and client stakeholders.
  • Develop high-quality deliverables including client reports, technical memos, design reviews, and risk assessments.
  • Stay current on market trends, technology innovation, and industry standard
  • Represent the company in client meetings, industry events, and project workshops.
