Overview
We're working with a high-growth manufacturing client in Nottingham seeking an experienced Senior Maintenance Engineer to lead from the front in a fast-paced, automated production environment. This is a rare opportunity to help shape a young engineering team, embed standards, and directly influence reliability and performance in a high-compliance, food-grade facility.

This is a hands-on, senior-level role where you'll own the technical standards, lead root-cause diagnostics, mentor engineers, and drive continuous improvement across critical assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead planned and reactive maintenance across high-speed production machinery
  • Own and evolve the PPM system, ensuring schedules, compliance, and uptime
  • Act as the go-to problem-solver for complex mechanical and electrical faults
  • Mentor and support junior engineers and apprentices
  • Collaborate closely with production teams to prevent downtime and improve reliability
  • Work across a range of equipment: conveyors, weighers, chillers, mixers, sealers, packaging lines
  • Support automation, upgrade, and installation projects
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, H&S, and engineering best practices
  • Lead on record-keeping: parts usage, fault logs, trend analysis, and asset history
  • Drive root cause analysis and contribute to site-wide CI initiatives

What We're Looking For

  • Experience in a senior/lead maintenance role within a food, FMCG, or regulated environment
  • Multiskilled engineering background - electrical & mechanical (approx. 50/50 or 60/40 split)
  • Confident with 3-phase, PLCs, VFDs, sensors, and automated production systems
  • Strong fabrication and basic welding ability
  • Proactive, calm under pressure, and a clear communicator
  • High safety and compliance standards
  • Passion for improving systems and upskilling others

Perks & Benefits

  • Competitive salary: 50-60k DOE
  • AXA private healthcare - including full cancer cover
  • Learning & Development budget
  • Annual wellbeing allowance
  • 28 days holiday
  • 1 volunteer day per year
  • Option to work abroad up to 2 weeks annually (role-dependent)
  • Monthly employee recognition scheme
  • Staff discounts for friends and family
  • Quarterly team socials
  • Birthday off (or an alternative if it falls on a weekend)
  • Option to sell back up to 1 week of unused holiday per year
