The must haves Experience of working in a technical design role (gained either with a network operator or with an equipment supplier), including of creating high-level designs, low-level designs and low-level configurations, of supporting test activities and of working with change control processes. A good working knowledge of 2G, 4G and 5G RAN architectures (preferably both traditional and vRAN, incl. O-RAN), including the network elements that are involved, the logical interfaces and the types of traffic that those interfaces carry. A good working knowledge of packet networking, e.g. Ethernet fundamentals, IP fundamentals, Ethernet & IP QoS mechanisms, transport protocols (e.g. UDP, TCP, SCTP and RTP), routing, security (e.g. IPsec architecture and protocols), monitoring protocols (e.g. BFD and TWAMP), DHCP, DNS, router resilience (e.g. VRRP), etc. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required for presenting complex technical concepts combined with strong influencing and persuading skills required for encouraging colleagues to change established processes and to adopt improvements. The other stuff we are looking for An understanding of transport-provided synchronization, especially SyncE and PTP / ToP.
