Role description: As part of a growing and agile business, our Environmental Planning team is looking for a Principal Environmental Consultant with a broad range of EIA experience. You will work collaboratively with a range of technical specialists on a broad range of projects, lead and coordinate Environmental Impacts Assessments and related deliverables, work closely with clients, develop new areas of business and mentor others in the team. With your specialism in environmental management, or your technical or sustainability expertise, your work could involve protected species, pollution, surface water and materials management, air quality or noise. Role accountabilities: Leading on the coordination and delivery of environmental work being undertaken by multi-disciplinary teams, influencing project development, and delivering optimal environmental outcomes. Undertaking your own work to an excellent standard, and reviewing the work of others. Working in partnership with other members of the Impact Assessment Team across the UK. Proactively managing selected projects or components of projects, taking responsibility for resource allocation, managing subcontractors, and quality assurance. Lead and support tender proposals/bids - working as part of a project winning team. Providing environmental advice and support to clients, project managers, and colleagues. Engaging with consultees and stakeholders. Developing outstanding reports - an ability to summarise and explain outcomes to non-technical audiences will be critical for this. Managing projects, overseeing our performance on technical, quality, commercial, and health and safety. Qualifications & Experience: Good knowledge of EIA practices and procedures and a solid understanding of environmental and sustainability principles and environmental technical specialisms. Experience across a range of project types, ideally within the energy, residential/mixed use/regeneration sector, as well as in other major infrastructure projects including rail/highways. Proven experience of managing and coordinating EIA screening and scoping activities and Environmental Statements including the technical review of specialist chapters. Practical working knowledge of the UK planning system and consenting process. Strong report writing, verbal and presentation skills with experience in reviewing the work of others to ensure quality. Experience in multi-disciplinary co-ordination and leadership of projects, with good project management and technical skills. Experience in consulting and negotiating with planning authorities, regulators, and stakeholders. The ability to work as part of an established team, supervising members of staff as applicable. Commercial expertise, including forecasting, project management, and quality assurance. Relevant degree or equivalent qualification, preferably with chartered status or working towards. A valid UK driving licence. Desired: Experience in the delivery of SEA and/or Integrated Impact Assessment (IIA) projects. Who are we looking for, and why work at Natural Power? Do you have a degree in Earth Sciences, Environmental Science, Hydrology/Hydrogeology, Water Resource Management or Geography? Our Hydrology team is responsible for providing technical delivery of fieldwork, data management and reporting aspects of a range of projects across onshore renewables, onshore grid infrastructure, and onshore infrastructure for offshore wind. As a Principal Consultant of the Hydrology team, you would be a technical lead for peatland assessments and peatland restoration projects, providing advice on onshore renewable/restoration projects. You would ensure the successful coordination, delivery, and quality assurance of all hydrology-related work that Natural Power undertakes, as a senior member of the Hydrology team. The Hydrology team works alongside technical peers in the Geotech and Construction teams in project delivery too. This role will also require management and delegation of tasks to support the life cycle of projects, coupled with tendering and providing hydrology services to meet clients' requirements. While this role is primarily focused on the GB market, there will in the future be a requirement to advise on hydrology projects in other core markets Natural Power chooses to offer Consents and Environment services. As part of the rapid expansion of their Historic Environment Team, they have an exciting opportunity available for an ambitious Historic Environment Consultant to join the team at a Principal Level. They are looking for experienced, enthusiastic, and driven consultants with a background in archaeology and heritage, who wish to further develop their careers on major development projects. This could be based out of their Edinburgh office or working remotely with some office attendance when required, but the roles would provide for flexible working. They are looking for commercially aware, talented, and motivated individuals who are keen to take on new challenges and provide solid and consistent advice to clients. Bristol (Brighton, Warrington or London also options) Salary (dependant on experience) Part of a growing group of companies, our consultancy client seeks an EIA professional at either Senior or Principal level in Bristol, although Warrington, London, and Brighton are alternative locations. They are very well regarded in the industry, providing high-quality technical work to a range of clients who operate across a number of different sectors. The role can be full or part-time with a good balance of working from our office and working from home. As a Senior or Principal EIA Consultant , with appropriate qualifications, you will have at least 3 years' relevant experience to join our growing and reputable team. You will assist in coordinating environmental inputs to large-scale infrastructure and major development projects, such as: Aviation Renewable power generation projects - including solar, hydrogen, BESS, and wind Property development - including commercial, residential, industrial, and healthcare development There will also be the opportunity to work on projects requiring Strategic Environmental Assessment. You will work with a range of internal technical environmental specialists and designers to manage environmental inputs to project designs and assessments. This will include early strategy development through to feasibility, outline design, detailed design, and discharging of conditions. You will have the opportunity to work within various consenting regimes, including Development Consent Orders and Town and Country Planning. You will also be expected to liaise with clients and sub-consultants, help to prepare fee proposals, and author environmental reports and EIA documentation.
