Electrician (Electrical Maintenance Engineer)

Location: Various Locations within Transport for London (TFL) network

Contract Length: 1 week

Role Overview:

Transport for London is seeking a highly skilled Electrician to support their electrical maintenance team across multiple locations within the TFL network.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM):

    • Conduct scheduled maintenance inspections and tasks on electrical systems, including lighting, power supplies, and control systems.
    • Ensure that all electrical installations, equipment, and systems are kept in safe working condition and comply with relevant safety standards and regulations.
  • Reactive Maintenance:

    • Respond promptly to reactive electrical faults and breakdowns, ensuring quick and effective resolutions to minimize disruption.
    • Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues across the transport network.
    • Perform emergency repairs and fault-finding on a variety of electrical systems and equipment.
  • Testing and Inspection:

    • Carry out electrical testing (including periodic inspections and certifications) on installations and systems as required.
    • Maintain accurate records of testing, inspections, and maintenance activities.
  • Health & Safety Compliance:

    • Adhere to all relevant health and safety regulations and practices in the execution of maintenance work.
    • Ensure all works are compliant with the IET Wiring Regulations (18th Edition) and the Electricity at Work Regulations.
  • Documentation and Reporting:

    • Ensure all maintenance and repair activities are fully documented.
    • Prepare reports on electrical systems' status and outline any further work needed to ensure compliance or enhance safety.
  • Collaborative Teamwork:

    • Work as part of a skilled team of engineers and electricians to ensure high-quality service delivery across the TFL network.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • 2391/2392 Electrical Qualification required for the role.
  • Proven experience in electrical maintenance, specifically in reactive and preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, wiring, and controls.
  • Experience working within a transport, public infrastructure, or similar environment is preferred but not essential.
  • Knowledge of relevant electrical safety standards and regulations.
