To lead, direct and manage all asphalt operational activities within Heidelberg Materials Asphalt, and in so doing achieve agreed Health and Safety, Environmental, Financial and Operational Performance levels.

To deliver performance measures in line with agreed UK sign off levels, improve sustainability and deliver Capex on budget and in time.

To constantly seek to improve existing performance levels, and to identify and then pursue opportunities for further business operational efficiencies and growth.

The definition of the geographical area and sites included within it may be subject to change as business requirements dictate.

Key Accountabilities

The main activity of the role involves leading, directing and managing the operational line management team in order for the UK to achieve its performance objectives. The performance emphasis for each of the core areas includes:

  1. Health and Safety: Operating to the highest level of health and safety objectives in line with Heidelberg Materials Health and Safety Plan. Action and deliver a plan of continuous improvement in this area.
  2. Environmental: Operating to the highest level of environmental objectives in line with Heidelberg Materials Environmental Management Plan. Action and deliver a plan of continuous improvement in this area.
  3. Compliance: Ensure all statutory legislation and company regulations are adhered to with respect to all operational activities.
  4. Capex: Deliver Capex of requisite standard for AFE Gateway sign off - deliver the capex asset on time, in budget and compliant with all safety requirements.
  5. Operational Production: Achieve optimum production levels in line with commercial activity at optimum value for money. Continually advance operational improvements to improve efficiency with the production functions.
  6. Key Performance Indicators: Responsibility for capture, analysis and review of KPI's per UK management and Heidelberg requirements - Action and deliver a plan of continuous improvement.
  7. Distribution: Working with the logistics function to ensure operational procedures are such that highest customer service levels can be achieved at the most efficient operational cost.
  8. Quality: Working with the technical function to ensure operational procedures are such that the highest quality levels are achieved at the most efficient operational cost.
  9. Business Analysis: Ensure all operational management information is accurate, relevant and is used effectively to assist in the management of the business and progressing all profit enhancing opportunities.
  10. RAP: Ensure delivery of optimal RAP at responsible plants plus the full management responsibility for the recycled operations in South.
