We are now looking for an Operations Team Leader to join our Kemira Purton UK site. In this role, you will work closely with the Plant Manager to plan and implement company goals, policies and procedures and support with the day to day running of the plant operation to ensure a safe and cost-effective operation. You will lead and motivate a team of six operator direct reports to improve safety, plant reliability & OEE.

In this role you will be responsible for:

  1. Supporting the Plant Manager in ensuring the site is meeting its obligations for regulatory, statutory and corporate standards in Health, Safety and Environmental and Engineering practice.
  2. Supervising external contractors, including external site service providers.
  3. Working with the Production Planner to maintain raw material stock levels.
  4. Developing and maintaining preventive and predictive maintenance techniques based on historical data.
  5. Liaising with suppliers, manufacturers and service providers to meet the maintenance needs of the site.
  6. Ensuring system integrity and working with external site projects teams for all new installations.
  7. The implementation of new, and improvement of, existing planned routines for the improved operability of the production facility and associated utilities/services. Ensuring that the maintenance strategy minimizes the impact on production run time.
  8. Working with the Production Planner to ensure inventory requirements and the need for them to be maintained and controlled to an agreed level.
  9. Ensuring adequate spares are held using risk and predictive techniques to set the stocking policy.
  10. Controlling the operation of the site recycling and waste disposal services to meet the needs of the site.
  11. Maintaining and controlling records to meet the needs of the regulatory, statutory and corporate requirements. Ensuring they are carried out promptly and reliably to meet all the current and future needs of the site.
  12. Supporting the Plant Manager in monitoring and controlling budgets in the maintenance area.
  13. Contributing to and implementing continuous improvement and process improvement programmes.
  14. Providing the Maintenance management system administration function for the site infrastructure and asset maintenance system.
  15. Working with the Plant Manager to set stores inventory levels, setting stocking policy to ensure the correct stores are held to maximize the business effectiveness of the site.
  16. Preparing specific job orders and justifications that are initiated by the reporting departments/areas.
  17. Supporting in procurement & investment processes.
  18. Ensuring that communication between all personnel contributes to the overall performance of the plant.
  19. Providing cover for the Plant Manager when required.
  20. Being available for calls out of hours and in emergencies attend site.

What you'll bring to the team:

  1. Experience of leading and motivating a team of production professionals with an understanding of predictive and preventative maintenance practices and the ability to prepare and execute plans to optimise and continually improve the site's production and maintenance activities.
  2. Level 3 Engineering qualification (ideally with electrical/mechanical bias).
  3. Production and maintenance experience, ideally gained in the Chemical Industry or Water Treatment Industry.
  4. Proven experience in managing a team.
