Responsibilities and duties of the Plant Operator role Reporting to the Site Manager you will: Support the safe, efficient daily operation of the plant. Monitor and optimise performance via the control system. Manage material intake and feeding in line with operational plans. Record and report plant data and performance metrics. Complete routine inspections, checks and basic first-line maintenance. Identify and escalate faults or process issues. Conduct routine sampling and process monitoring. Operate the weighbridge and maintain accurate documentation. Maintain site security, housekeeping and compliance with permits and procedures. Assist with maintenance activities and participate in the on-call rota, including weekends and bank holidays. Professional qualifications We are looking for someone with the following: Experience working in a process-driven, industrial or energy environment. Strong awareness of health, safety and environmental compliance. Basic mechanical aptitude with the ability to undertake first-line maintenance. IT literacy and confidence working with plant control or monitoring systems. A full UK driving licence. Responsibilities and duties of the Biogas Plant Operator role Reporting to the Permitting Manager you will: Leading in external inspections/visits from regulatory bodies. (EA/HSE/APHA/PLA) Carrying out integrated management system audits (IMS, i.e. ISO and PAS 110 re-certification audits). Drafting responses and identifying pragmatic and cost-effective solutions. Completing annual reports, pollution inventory and improvement condition returns for the sites as required by the permits. Completing and submitting permit variations and renewals to the EA and APHA. The development and review of relevant risk assessments, SOPs, training and driving safety improvements throughout the business. Dahlia Recruitment Renewables are partered with a growing Biogas company based in Northwich and are looking to urgently recruit 2 x Operators that are responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant receipt, handling, storage, and movement of feedstocks for the anaerobic digestion (AD) plant. The role ensures consistent feedstock supply to maintain optimal plant performance while meeting environmental, health & safety, and regulatory requirements. The role operates a rotating shift pattern Mon - Fri from 6am - 1pm and 12pm - 8pm with lots of opportunity for overtime. You must have a full driving license to apply for this role. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Receive, inspect, weigh, and record incoming feedstocks (e.g., food waste, agricultural residues, energy crops, slurries). Verify delivery documentation and ensure compliance with waste acceptance criteria and permits. Coordinate and direct delivery vehicles on-site safely. Sample and visually assess loads for contamination and reject non-compliant materials where required. Manage storage areas (tanks, bunkers, silage clamps, hoppers) to maintain quality and minimise odours and contamination. Prepare and load feedstock blends according to operational requirements. Maintain accurate records using weighbridge and site management systems. Track tonnages, storage volumes, and feedstock inventory. Ensure compliance with EA permits, Duty of Care, and waste transfer documentation. Knowledge & Attributes: Practical, hands-on approach. Reliable and organised. Safety-conscious. Able to work independently and as part of a team. Flexible to support operational demands. Good communication and teamwork skills Basic IT skills for data entry and record keeping.
