Senior Full Stack Engineer £85,000 to £105,000 Permanent Remote, with occasional London office visits The opportunity Our client is hiring a Senior Full Stack Engineer to take ownership of building the next generation of customer-facing software in the energy market. The business operates in a complex, high-value sector and is using technology, data, and strong product thinking to modernise an industry that has historically been underserved by great software. We have already recruited 4 people into the business, and all 4 are still there. We know the company and team well and are pleased to be supporting them again on this important hire. This is a genuinely high-impact opportunity for an experienced engineer who is equally comfortable across frontend and backend development. You will take the lead on building new products and developing the codebase, with significant autonomy over technical decisions, architecture, and delivery. The position can be fully remote, although the business would welcome occasional visits to its Mayfair office for collaboration and team time. The role This is a true full stack position. They need someone strong in React and TypeScript who can build polished, reliable customer-facing software, but who is equally capable of contributing across backend services, APIs, application logic, databases, and data-rich workflows. The platform supports complex energy processes across areas such as billing, metering, consumption, reporting, and asset performance. You will be responsible for taking those workflows and turning them into clear, scalable products that customers genuinely value. Initially, you will lead much of the engineering work independently. You will not, however, be expected to operate without support. The business can provide access to external engineering expertise and additional coding support where needed as the platform and codebase develop. This role offers genuine autonomy. You will have the freedom to make sensible technical decisions, shape engineering standards, and influence how the product evolves as the company grows. What you will be doing Leading the development of customer-facing products from initial concept through to production Building modern frontend applications using React and TypeScript Designing and developing backend services, APIs, integrations, and application logic Working with Python, SQL, databases, and data platforms Taking ownership of architecture, technical decisions, and engineering standards Turning complex energy and operational data into clear, intuitive product experiences Working closely with product, data, leadership, and external engineering partners Building a scalable and maintainable codebase from the ground up Helping define the future engineering team and technical direction as the business expands What they are looking for Strong commercial experience across both frontend and backend engineering Excellent React and TypeScript capability Strong backend development experience, ideally including Python Good experience with APIs, databases, SQL, and system integrations A track record of leading projects or taking ownership of major technical workstreams Experience building customer-facing software from scratch Strong product instincts and the ability to think beyond individual tickets Confidence making technical decisions and working with a high level of autonomy Excellent communication skills and the ability to work closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders Personality and attitude are particularly important. They want someone positive, proactive, collaborative, and genuinely enthusiastic about building great software. The right person will bring energy to the team, take responsibility, and approach challenges with a practical and constructive mindset. Nice to have Startup or scale-up experience Energy, utilities, trading, sustainability, or fintech experience Data visualisation experience Experience working with Databricks or similar data platforms Experience using AI-assisted development tools Previous involvement in shaping engineering teams, standards, or architecture Why join A salary of £85,000 to £105,000 + Bonus The flexibility to work remotely Occasional collaboration from the Mayfair office Real autonomy over what gets built and how it is delivered The opportunity to lead a major product and codebase from an early stage Direct influence over product and technical direction Support from external engineering resources when required Broad exposure across frontend, backend, data, architecture, and product Long-term scope to help build and shape the engineering function A growing business operating in a complex and important energy market Summary This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Full Stack Engineer who wants meaningful ownership rather than simply maintaining an established platform. You will lead the development of customer-facing software, work across React, TypeScript, Python, APIs, databases, and data-rich systems, and have the autonomy to shape the technical direction of a growing energy business. They are looking for someone technically strong, but equally importantly, someone with an excellent attitude who is positive, engaging, and excited by the opportunity to build.

Morela is proud to be supporting a private, entrepreneurial family-owned real estate group with a multi-billion-pound property portfolio and a private credit book. Long established, cash generative, and quietly one of the larger privately held property businesses in the country. Not a name you will see on job boards, because they have never needed to advertise. And, remarkably, no data platform. Property management, asset management and accounting all sit in separate systems that do not talk to each other, which means nobody in the business has a single, trusted view of what it owns. They could have bought something off the shelf. They could have handed it to a consultancy. Instead, they have decided to build it properly, in-house, and this is the person who builds it. This is a blank page. You choose the stack. You design the model. You decide what gets built and what gets bought. There is no legacy platform to inherit and no architect sitting above you telling you how it is done. Because the business is family-owned, it actually moves: no steering committee, no six-week approval cycle, no business case to defend three times before you write a line of code. You will sit alongside the principals and the operating teams, so what you build goes live and gets used that week. Get the foundation right and the question that follows is a genuinely interesting one: whether the tooling you have built internally becomes a product in its own right. YOUR ROLE Set the direction. Identify and translate the organisation's highest-value problems into a technical roadmap, balancing a robust platform architecture against rapid delivery. Build the foundation. Design the data model that operates as a single source of truth, and the pipelines that store and reconcile properties, entities, leases, tenants, projects, invoices, cash flows, valuations and documents across multiple sources. Connect the estate. Build integrations with third-party vendors across APIs, webhooks, direct database access and scheduled ingestion. Kill the manual work. Eliminate repetitive manual work across internal workflows: data collection, validation, approvals, reconciliations, reminders, document generation and reporting. Ship what people use. Deliver dashboards, reports, alerts and internal applications that principals and operating teams can trust and actually use. Put AI to work properly. Build LLM pipelines for extraction, classification, retrieval and workflow support, with evaluations, human-in-the-loop oversight and auditability, so it is explainable rather than a black box. Set the bar. Set the standards for security, testing, deployment, monitoring and documentation, manage selected vendors, build the engineering culture, and mentor the junior data engineer. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR A strong record of building and operating reliable pipelines, integrations, data models or platforms that serve real users and business-critical decisions. Strong programming fundamentals in Python, TypeScript and SQL at expert working level, covering testing, performance and maintainability, with the judgement to review others' code and hold a high-quality bar. Confidence building robust REST APIs, working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, modelling data, running ETL/ELT pipelines, and making pragmatic build-versus-buy calls. Experience deploying production systems in AWS, Azure or GCP, accounting for monitoring, secrets management, access control, backups and disaster recovery. Experience with production LLM pipelines: context engineering, evaluation, retrieval, tool use and guardrails. Experience taking a platform from prototype to production or working in an early-stage environment with a rapidly evolving product. Mature judgement handling financially sensitive, personal and commercially confidential information in a regulated industry. The ability to set direction, mentor a junior colleague and introduce engineering discipline while staying practical, fast and close to end users. Curiosity about how internal tools can be abstracted and generalised into a product. HELPFUL, BUT NOT ESSENTIAL Proptech, fintech, accounting technology, asset management, construction, private investment operations or another data-intensive regulated environment. Modern data warehouses, transformation and orchestration tooling, business intelligence platforms and internal web applications. Document processing, OCR, search and retrieval systems, workflow engines or human-in-the-loop review tools. UK data protection, information security and operational resilience principles. WHY THIS ONE IS WORTH A CONVERSATION Scope most senior engineers never get. The platform is yours to define, not someone else's to maintain. Direct access to the people who decide, without the layers that slow good engineering down. Real AI work with real constraints, where auditability and evaluation matter as much as the model. The stability of a long-established, cash-generative business, with the pace and the blank page of an early-stage one. THE PROCESS Morela is supporting this search and managing the process end to end. If the brief resonates, get in touch for a confidential conversation before you commit to anything; the client is named only once you are happy to be represented. Appointment will be subject to appropriate references, background checks and a confidentiality agreement. We welcome applicants from different backgrounds whose skills and evidence meet the requirements, and reasonable adjustments are available throughout the process. Here, you'll tackle complex, high visibility problems with exceptional teammates and grow your career as we build the future of global banking. If that sounds like you, let's build what's next. About the Team The Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) team at Airwallex is a strategically vital function operating under a clear Three Lines of Defence model. As the independent second line, FCC owns the global AML/CTF programme, sanctions framework, risk assessment methodology, and governance infrastructure across all global entities. As Airwallex scales into new markets and deepens its engagement with global regulatory bodies, we are building a world class compliance organization capable of managing complex financial crime risks at scale. This is an environment where you will tackle high impact challenges, shape global fintech risk strategies, and help establish foundations for long term growth. What you'll do As Manager, FCC Monitoring & Testing, EMEA you will shape and scale Airwallex's global financial crime compliance monitoring and testing framework, establishing a rigorous, data driven second line assurance function. You will independently validate the design and operating effectiveness of AML, Sanctions, and KYC/KYB controls across all production environments and establish a monitoring framework and associated metrics to support executive decisioning and ongoing maintenance of program and control operating effectiveness. You will work closely with the broader FCC organization, Product, Engineering, Operations, and regional leadership to turn testing insights into operational accountability, robust remediation, and a defensible compliance posture before global regulators and institutional banking partners. This role covers the APAC region (excluding China and Hong Kong) and is based in Singapore. In this role, you will be a key part of a global team, collaborating closely across regions to drive consistent FCC Monitoring & Testing standards. Responsibilities: Contribute to the strategic development, execution, and continuous evolution of Airwallex's Global FCC Monitoring & Testing Programme, establishing robust, risk based testing methodologies and annual plans for independent second line assurance. Design comprehensive testing frameworks to validate core compliance controls across customer onboarding, periodic reviews, sanctions screening, transaction monitoring, and regulatory reporting workflows, ensuring coverage keeps pace with product and market expansion. Oversee the ongoing FCC monitoring program for APAC (excluding China and Hong Kong), including establishment of KPIs and operating effectiveness metrics. Advance the transition from traditional sample reviews toward continuous, data enabled assurance by leveraging data analytics, system logs, and automated testing scripts to evaluate compliance control performance at the population level. Oversee the independent validation of system encoded controls, including transaction monitoring thresholds, screening logic, and customer risk rating models, ensuring systems function as intended without logic drift or hidden control gaps. Translate complex testing outcomes and thematic trends into clear, decision useful reporting for executive leadership and governance forums, providing constructive challenge to stakeholders and tracking the root cause remediation of control deficiencies. Represent the FCC monitoring and testing function during regulatory examinations, internal or external audits, and banking partner reviews, confidently defending testing methodologies and control evidence. Who you are We're looking for people who meet the minimum requirements for this role. The preferred qualifications are great to have, but are not mandatory. Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Law, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related quantitative/analytical discipline. Strong technical knowledge of financial crime controls across transaction monitoring, sanctions/PEP screening, customer due diligence, and digital KYC/KYB workflows. Proven mastery of risk based testing methodologies, including scoping, sampling, design and operating effectiveness assessments, issue writing, and remediation validation. A high ownership, pragmatic approach, with excellent written communication and stakeholder management skills to challenge senior partners constructively and drive operational accountability. Preferred qualifications: Advanced degree such as an MBA, Master's in Regulatory Compliance, Risk Management, or a related field. Professional assurance or audit certifications such as CAMS Audit, CISA, or CIA. Strong fintech and platforms experience, including exposure to cloud native, API driven, high growth global environments with significant cross border transaction volume. Strong data literacy, including comfort using SQL, Python, BI dashboards, or automated tools to support continuous control validation and population based testing. Experience partnering directly with Product, Data Science, and Engineering teams to validate automated rules, model driven controls, and rapid deployments within an agile product lifecycle. Applicant Safety Policy: Fraud and Third Party Recruiters To protect you from recruitment scams, please be aware that Airwallex will not ask for bank details, sensitive ID numbers (i.e. passport), or any form of payment during the application or interview process. About Ramp Ramp is building the smart infrastructure for finance teams, embedded in the transaction flow of every dollar a business spends. We automate how over $200B in annualized spend flows in and out of 70,000+ companies: authorizing payments, flagging risk, categorizing spend, and closing books. The problems are high-stakes, data-dense, and unforgiving. We hire people with high agency and high urgency. We look for slope over intercept. We care less about where you trained and more about what you've built. At Ramp, everyone is a builder who owns problems end to end and makes consequential decisions that shape the outcome. The median Ramp customer saves 5% and grows revenue 16% in their first year - far in excess of businesses operating without Ramp. We believe every ambitious company deserves the same. If you want to build systems that directly shape how companies move and manage billions, Ramp is the place to do it. About the Role Ramp is looking for a Risk Operations Specialist to join our Underwriting team in Europe. You'll help evaluate businesses applying to Ramp, make credit and risk decisions, and improve the systems we use to assess customers across our products. This is an early regional role. You'll work with teammates across Risk Operations, Credit Strategy, Product, Engineering, Sales, and Customer Support while helping define what great underwriting coverage looks like supporting EU and US applicants. The work requires sound judgment, comfort with financial data, and the ability to make clear decisions when information is incomplete. You'll thoughtfully apply AI and automation to help the team move faster, improve consistency, strengthen review quality, and scale operations The best candidates bring underwriting or credit risk experience, strong written judgment, and a high ownership bar. You should be comfortable working independently, documenting your reasoning, and improving the process as you learn where the gaps are. What You'll Do Review new business applications and make underwriting recommendations across Ramp's corporate card and bill pay products for EU and US applicants. Analyze financial statements, bank data, bureau information, application details, and other risk signals to assess business health and repayment ability. Recommend the right underwriting outcome, such as approval, decline, a lower limit, a request for more information, or another risk control. Communicate with customers clearly and professionally when additional financial information or context is needed. Maintain high-quality decisions while managing a queue with defined SLAs and quality expectations. Build and improve underwriting documentation, workflows, and operating procedures as Ramp expands regional coverage. Partner with Risk Strategy, Product, Engineering, Sales, and Customer Support to improve policies, tools, and customer experience. Monitor underwriting outcomes and surface trends, gaps, or emerging risks that should inform policy or tooling changes. Use AI and automation thoughtfully to improve speed, consistency, review quality, and operational leverage. What You Need 4+ years of experience in underwriting, credit risk management, commercial lending, credit operations, or a related risk role. Experience in corporate cards, small business cards, payments, invoices, lending, fintech, banking, or related financial services. Strong financial analysis skills, including comfort reviewing financial statements, bank data, transaction activity, and other business health indicators. Clear written and verbal communication, especially when explaining sensitive underwriting decisions or requesting customer information. Strong investigative judgment and the ability to make defensible decisions with incomplete or conflicting data. Comfort operating independently in a fast-moving environment, especially as one of the first regional underwriting team members. Strong attention to detail and discipline around documentation, quality, and SLA management. Demonstrated AI fluency, including experience building and implementing AI-driven workflows. Experience underwriting businesses in European markets or working with EU-based financial services customers. Experience building or improving underwriting SOPs, risk playbooks, dashboards, or operational workflows. Nice to Haves Experience at a high-growth startup or scaling operations team. SQL, Python, or analytics experience. Experience working directly with Sales, Account Management, Customer Support, Product, Engineering, or Risk Strategy teams. Experience supporting extended-hours, weekend, holiday, or regional coverage models. Work Schedule Requirements Ramp serves customers across time zones, and this role is intended to expand our underwriting coverage outside standard US business hours. Candidates should be comfortable with a schedule that supports European customer needs and may include occasional weekend or holiday coverage depending on the final operating model. Vault Core is our flagship core banking platform, designed to run any bank product, from mortgages and savings to complex corporate lending using our unique, Python-based Smart Contracts. Today, more than 50 clients, including multiple systemically important Tier 1 banks, run their most critical banking workloads on Vault Core. This platform can be self-hosted by clients or consumed as a SaaS offering operated by Thought Machine, with support across major cloud providers such as AWS, GCP, and Azure. This role is highly technical. You will work in lockstep with Engineering leadership to tackle challenges in data integrity and consistency, performance at scale, and the developer experience for those creating and launching financial products on our platform. You will define APIs and user journeys that enable our clients to deliver outstanding experiences to their customers, designing for the wide variety of banks we work with and their unique products and ways of working. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of deeply technical domains and high-level product strategy, with good commercial instincts. You understand that your clients' success depends on a platform that is not just functional, but has best-in-class design, is performant and resilient. By building alignment across Engineering, GTM, and Customer Success, you will ensure that platform capabilities drive adoption and deliver measurable outcomes. Duties Own the Core Roadmap: Define and drive the strategy for Vault Core, ensuring the engine remains the industry leader in configurability, performance and resilience. Be a product evangelist: Champion Vault Core externally and within Thought Machine, clearly communicating the scale of the ambition within our product vision and the technical functionality that will excite our clients. Be the voice of the customer: Represent the world's largest banks and their developers internally, collecting feedback, pursuing the highest levels of quality, and enabling engineering teams to be laser-focused on solving core banking problems. Support client delivery: Work closely with the Client Services team and partners to guide complex implementations. Ensure effective alignment between client product requirements and the technical capabilities of the Vault Core engine. Develop best practices: Help drive Product Management best practices and processes, working with Engineering Managers to ensure adoption and alignment across the core engine domain. Essential 5+ years of product management experience in a product-led technology company. Proven track record of delivering deeply technical, API-driven, or infrastructure products. Able to think from first principles, debate complex technical ideas (e.g., consistency vs. availability in a ledger), and rapidly learn new concepts. Strong client-facing interpersonal skills and an equally strong ability to engage in technical conversations with Enterprise Architects and CTOs. Comfortable writing simple scripts in languages such as Python (which powers our Smart Contracts). Desirable Experience working in regulated industries such as banking or financial services Prior experience as a software engineer or in a highly technical role Experience building enterprise software or working within a B2B infrastructure/platform vendor Benefits Highly competitive salary and commission Pension plan (match up to 5%) Life insurance - three times annual salary Competitive maternity (six months fully paid) and paternity leave (four weeks fully paid) Shared parental leave (matched to our maternity leave for the same point in time) 25 days holiday and bank holidays Flexible working hours Cycle-to-work scheme Electric car scheme Season ticket loan Access to outstanding learning materials and courses Sports and hobby clubs, subsidised by Thought Machine All the latest tech you need Start the day properly with fresh fruit and cereals Huge range of healthy (and not-so-healthy) snacks, smoothies and drinks A talented and experienced team as your colleagues An environment where we encourage learning and progress Two charity days a year Weekly food pop-up We actively hire candidates who demonstrate technical excellence in their field and welcome people of all ages and backgrounds, providing everyone with equal access to professional development. You are encouraged to apply even if your experience doesn't accurately match the job description. We also encourage applications from those with different abilities, including candidates with ADHD, autism, dyslexia or dyspraxia.
We're on a mission to make migration easy. We started building Marshmallow in 2017. Since then, we've grown from 3 to 700+ people, gained unicorn status, raised £140M over three funding rounds, turned profitable, insured millions of drivers and lent millions in car loans. But we're only just getting started. Our goal is to become one of the largest financial services providers in the world. Over the next 10 years we'll grow exponentially, not only by scaling our existing products, but also by building new ones. To achieve our goals we need incredibly ambitious, commercially driven people who never settle for 'good enough'. Marshmallowers are hungry for autonomy and ownership, and would rather improve than coast. Everyone raises standards and has an impact, with a focus on collective success over self-interest. We've created an environment where curious, tenacious people win and grow together. If that sounds motivating, this could be the place for you. 12m FTC - (London, hybrid 3 days a week) Data Science at Marshmallow Our data science team supports various business functions across our Product teams and within Pricing and Claims. The team works closely with senior stakeholders and partners across data, engineering, product and commercial functions to identify the right opportunities and make thoughtful technical trade-offs. We operate with a flat structure, so leaders stay close to the people doing the work and support colleagues at different levels of experience. Our ambition is to keep raising the bar for how data science delivers impact across the business. Data: SQL, Python, Snowflake, dbt, Airflow & Looker AI at Marshmallow: Sierra.ai for conversational AI, Python and LangChain for agentic AI solutions, Sagemaker and MLflow for Machine Learning, Cursor and Claude Code for developer productivity. What you'll be doing Drive commercial impact at every turn: Proactively identify and prioritise data science opportunities that offer the highest leverage for the business, ensuring every project is measured by its bottom-line contribution and strategic commercial alignment. Lead the people and culture agenda for data science: set goals, manage performance and development conversations, and keep an evolving team engaged and delivering high-impact projects. Provide hands-on technical leadership: set and hold a consistent bar on technical standards across the full modelling and data lifecycle. Represent data science in cross-functional conversations, partnering closely with engineering, product and pricing on technical direction and trade-offs. Build collective ownership of technical standards across Data Science, coaching people to look beyond their own domain and drive function-wide improvements to shared standards, tooling and best practice. Who you are You bring an inherently commercial-first mindset: you don't just build models, you build solutions that directly influence the P&L, and you constantly evaluate every technical trade-off through a rigorous lens of business value. You make confident decisions even when the picture is still forming, and you're comfortable operating across more than one domain at once. Technical deep dive or case study focused on technical trade-offs, commercial thinking and influence (2 Senior Stakeholders) Final leadership and values interviews with senior technology and commercial stakeholders, (CTO & Co-Founder) We review every application and will always let you know the outcome, though we're unable to provide individual feedback at application stage. Diversity of thought We know the best ideas come from having different perspectives in the room - and we're committed to hiring fairly, regardless of background, identity or experience.
