We meet the needs of a wide range of pupils including but not limited to: Pupils with Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD): dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, ADHD Pupils with speech, language and communication difficulties Pupils who require Occupational Therapy (OT) support in achieving age-appropriate functional skills Pupils with higher functioning Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD) Vulnerable pupils who have sensory processing difficulties impacting on emotional regulation, attention and concentration managed with basic self-regulation strategies Paediatric Speech & Language Therapist: Band 5 or 6 - 4 day permanent position Start date: As soon as possible Salary: Band 5 or 6 (dependent on experience) Principal Duties and Responsibilities Professional\/Clinical Be responsible for maintaining own competency to practice through CPD and maintain a portfolio which reflects personal development in order to maintain up to date HCPC registration Demonstrate clinical effectiveness by use of evidence based practice and outcome measures Keep up to date with, and develop strategies for implementing best practice in clinical areas relating to the caseload Contribute to the multidisciplinary team Access a second opinion from more senior therapists as identified via clinical supervision -Devise appropriate intervention plans for clients and provide suitable and timely intervention Attend, when appropriate, Annual Review Meetings and Shared Goals\/IEP meetings Liaise and work alongside cover staff, support staff, assistants and volunteers Maintain use of equipment and resources Actively engage in own performance management Education and Training Participate in mandatory and recommended training programmes in accordance with school \/ departmental guidelines Maintain and develop professional expertise and knowledge Demonstrate understanding of the basic principles of Speech and Language therapy Provide specialist advice to other parties as appropriate Explain the role of Speech and Language Therapy within school Identify training needs within the staff group Advise on and demonstrate Speech and Language Therapy targets and strategies throughout the school day Health and Safety Carry out school policy as documented and\/or directed by the senior leadership team Document appropriately and report any near misses, hazards and accidents and bring them to the attention of the relevant \/ designated individuals Work in a safe manner with due care and attention to the safety of self and others Comply with school and departmental procedures with regard to safeguarding Promote a culture that values diversity and respect Administrative Undertake general administrative and pupil related administrative tasks in line with school requirements and policies Ensure the maintenance of accurate records in line with clinical governance Ensure good working practice and adherence to standards of best practice Engage in service audit and demonstrate achievement of the service objectives Provide accurate statistical information as required Produce reports reflecting specialist knowledge regarding student needs This job description describes in general terms the normal duties with which the post holder will be expected to undertake.
