Morela is proud to be supporting a private, entrepreneurial family-owned real estate group with a multi-billion-pound property portfolio and a private credit book. Long established, cash generative, and quietly one of the larger privately held property businesses in the country. Not a name you will see on job boards, because they have never needed to advertise. And, remarkably, no data platform. Property management, asset management and accounting all sit in separate systems that do not talk to each other, which means nobody in the business has a single, trusted view of what it owns. They could have bought something off the shelf. They could have handed it to a consultancy. Instead, they have decided to build it properly, in-house, and this is the person who builds it. This is a blank page. You choose the stack. You design the model. You decide what gets built and what gets bought. There is no legacy platform to inherit and no architect sitting above you telling you how it is done. Because the business is family-owned, it actually moves: no steering committee, no six-week approval cycle, no business case to defend three times before you write a line of code. You will sit alongside the principals and the operating teams, so what you build goes live and gets used that week. Get the foundation right and the question that follows is a genuinely interesting one: whether the tooling you have built internally becomes a product in its own right. YOUR ROLE Set the direction. Identify and translate the organisation's highest-value problems into a technical roadmap, balancing a robust platform architecture against rapid delivery. Build the foundation. Design the data model that operates as a single source of truth, and the pipelines that store and reconcile properties, entities, leases, tenants, projects, invoices, cash flows, valuations and documents across multiple sources. Connect the estate. Build integrations with third-party vendors across APIs, webhooks, direct database access and scheduled ingestion. Kill the manual work. Eliminate repetitive manual work across internal workflows: data collection, validation, approvals, reconciliations, reminders, document generation and reporting. Ship what people use. Deliver dashboards, reports, alerts and internal applications that principals and operating teams can trust and actually use. Put AI to work properly. Build LLM pipelines for extraction, classification, retrieval and workflow support, with evaluations, human-in-the-loop oversight and auditability, so it is explainable rather than a black box. Set the bar. Set the standards for security, testing, deployment, monitoring and documentation, manage selected vendors, build the engineering culture, and mentor the junior data engineer. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR A strong record of building and operating reliable pipelines, integrations, data models or platforms that serve real users and business-critical decisions. Strong programming fundamentals in Python, TypeScript and SQL at expert working level, covering testing, performance and maintainability, with the judgement to review others' code and hold a high-quality bar. Confidence building robust REST APIs, working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, modelling data, running ETL/ELT pipelines, and making pragmatic build-versus-buy calls. Experience deploying production systems in AWS, Azure or GCP, accounting for monitoring, secrets management, access control, backups and disaster recovery. Experience with production LLM pipelines: context engineering, evaluation, retrieval, tool use and guardrails. Experience taking a platform from prototype to production or working in an early-stage environment with a rapidly evolving product. Mature judgement handling financially sensitive, personal and commercially confidential information in a regulated industry. The ability to set direction, mentor a junior colleague and introduce engineering discipline while staying practical, fast and close to end users. Curiosity about how internal tools can be abstracted and generalised into a product. HELPFUL, BUT NOT ESSENTIAL Proptech, fintech, accounting technology, asset management, construction, private investment operations or another data-intensive regulated environment. Modern data warehouses, transformation and orchestration tooling, business intelligence platforms and internal web applications. Document processing, OCR, search and retrieval systems, workflow engines or human-in-the-loop review tools. UK data protection, information security and operational resilience principles. WHY THIS ONE IS WORTH A CONVERSATION Scope most senior engineers never get. The platform is yours to define, not someone else's to maintain. Direct access to the people who decide, without the layers that slow good engineering down. Real AI work with real constraints, where auditability and evaluation matter as much as the model. The stability of a long-established, cash-generative business, with the pace and the blank page of an early-stage one. THE PROCESS Morela is supporting this search and managing the process end to end. If the brief resonates, get in touch for a confidential conversation before you commit to anything; the client is named only once you are happy to be represented. Appointment will be subject to appropriate references, background checks and a confidentiality agreement. Citi's COO Technology organization is building one of the most consequential AI platforms in global financial services - and this is the role that leads it. The Head of AI Solutions is a newly created, executive-level position with a clear mandate: architect a unified AI strategy, build a world class engineering team, and deliver production grade AI at scale across the operational nerve center of a global bank. This is not a coordination or advisory role. It is a builder's role - one with the budget, the mandate, and the organizational reach to make it real. Responsibilities AI Strategy & Platform Architecture Define and own the multi year AI strategy for the COO Technology portfolio; translate business intent into a concrete, milestone driven execution roadmap with measurable outcomes Develop architecture blueprints and end to end systems design for Generative AI and agentic workflows across diverse operational domains Build the shared AI platform - reusable models, tooling, guardrails, evaluation frameworks, and accelerators - that reduces duplication, lowers cost, and enables faster adoption across COO Establish and enforce engineering standards, architectural guardrails, and development patterns across all AI initiatives Define a rigorous total cost of ownership model for developing, deploying, and sustaining AI in production Identify and evaluate emerging GenAI technologies, foundation models, and agent frameworks - and make deliberate, defensible decisions on where to build, buy, or partner Production AI Delivery at Enterprise Scale Lead end to end delivery of AI solutions across high complexity, regulated operational environments - from architecture through production deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement Drive the agentic product development lifecycle: runtime harness design, evaluation frameworks, human in the loop workflows, feedback loops, and production readiness criteria Manage cross functional delivery spanning engineering, product, data, architecture, cyber, risk & compliance, and operations Proactively identify and resolve dependencies, critical path risks, and systemic delivery blockers; ensure on time, on budget execution Ensure all AI solutions meet production grade standards: stability, scalability, auditability, explainability, and regulatory compliance Executive Partnership & AI Governance Serve as the senior AI executive point of contact for COO function leads - partnering directly with the Heads of Core Operations Technology, Shared Services Technology, and Controls Technology Lead AI governance forums and Architecture Review Boards; establish clear decision rights and review cadences across the portfolio Translate complex technical realities into clear, compelling narratives for senior non technical audiences - including COO, CIO, and regulatory stakeholders Develop executive level communications - steering committee materials, portfolio dashboards, and milestone tracking - that improve decision velocity and reduce execution risk Ensure full adherence to Citi's internal policies, risk and control frameworks, model risk management (MRM) standards, and applicable regulatory requirements Building the AI Engineering Organization Build, structure, and lead a high performing AI engineering function aligned to COO's operational priorities - including team topology, operating model, and career pathways Foster a culture of technical excellence, intellectual curiosity, and pragmatic innovation: engineers who ship production solutions, not prototypes Own and manage the AI technology portfolio budget ( $200M), driving disciplined funding allocation, financial transparency, and cost to serve accountability Lead productivity and efficiency programs with measurable targets across cycle time, quality, throughput, and engineering leverage Define and optimize vendor and partner strategy, including strategic AI platform partnerships (e.g., Google, Anthropic), third party tooling, and outsourced delivery models Qualifications 15+ years of experience in Technology - Required: Generative AI & LLM Engineering: Deep, hands on expertise in large language models including model selection, fine tuning, prompt engineering, retrieval augmented generation (RAG), vector database design, and evaluation methodologies. You understand how models behave in production, not just in demos. Agentic Systems Design: Proven experience designing and deploying multi agent architectures and orchestration frameworks (e.g., LangGraph, AutoGen, CrewAI); tool use patterns, human in the loop workflows, and agentic safety at enterprise scale. AI/ML Engineering & MLOps: Full AI/ML lifecycle ownership-training pipelines, model deployment, versioning, monitoring, drift detection, observability (e.g., Weights & Biases, Arize), and lifecycle management using platforms such as MLflow, Vertex AI, or SageMaker. Cloud AI Platforms: Demonstrated deployment of AI workloads on AWS, GCP, and/or Azure including managed ML services, scalable inference infrastructure, and vector stores. Programming & Frameworks: Strong Python proficiency; working knowledge of PyTorch or TensorFlow; applied experience with AI application frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex, or equivalents). Enterprise AI Architecture: Designing AI systems for regulated production environments: data security, model explainability, audit logging, access controls, and integration with legacy systems. Leadership & Delivery - Required: 15+ years in technology, with a proven record of leading large scale engineering organizations through build out and transformation. 10+ years of management experience, including direct leadership of senior engineers and architects, and management of managers across global teams. Demonstrated delivery of enterprise AI solutions with realized measurable business outcomes - not just successful pilots or proofs of concept. Experience managing large, complex technology budgets ($50M+) with accountability for financial transparency and ROI. Track record of operating effectively in matrixed, cross functional organizations at the intersection of technology and operations. Domain & Contextual Knowledge - Strongly Preferred Deep familiarity with financial services operations and the regulatory landscape - particularly KYC/AML, fraud, reconciliations, and regulatory reporting. Strong understanding of model risk management (MRM) and what it takes to move AI from development to production under regulatory scrutiny. Experience engaging with strategic technology partners (cloud providers, AI platform companies) at an executive level. Leadership Profile You build platforms, not point solutions - you instinctively seek the reusable, the shared, the scalable. You are equally credible in a deep technical architecture review and a board level strategy discussion. You attract, develop, and retain strong technical talent - engineers want to work for you because they grow. You operate with clarity and urgency in ambiguous environments; complexity energizes rather than paralyzes you. You communicate with precision - you can make a complex AI architecture concept land with a CRO, a COO, and a principal engineer, and you do it differently for each. Education Bachelor's degree required; Master's in CS, AI/ML, or related field preferred. What Success Looks Like Establish the AI engineering team and operating model - hire and structure a high performing team with clear roles, responsibilities, and a strong culture. Deliver 3+ production grade agentic AI systems across priority COO domains, with measurable operational impact (cost, speed, quality, or risk reduction). Launch the shared AI platform - reusable RAG infrastructure, evaluation frameworks, and common tooling adopted across COO Technology. Define and align the multi year AI roadmap with COO function leads and the Head of COO Technology, with clear prioritization, milestones, and funding allocation. Establish AI governance - Architecture Review Boards, model risk processes, and compliance frameworks embedded in the delivery lifecycle. Why This Role Scale that is rare. You will build AI capabilities across one of the world's most operationally complex banking platforms - with direct, measurable impact on how trillions of dollars in transactions are processed, controlled, and reported daily. Greenfield mandate. The team, the platform, and the strategy are yours to define. You will set the architectural direction, the engineering culture, and the standards that govern AI across the COO portfolio. Uniquely hard problems. Banking operations at this scale generate AI challenges that simply do not exist elsewhere - legacy system integration, regulatory auditability requirements, multi jurisdictional data constraints, and the need for explainability in consequential decisions. If you want to solve problems that matter and that are genuinely difficult, this is the role. Executive visibility and sponsorship. This role has CIO and COO level visibility, a clear organizational mandate, and the budget to execute without delay. Strategic partnerships. Collaborate directly with Google, Anthropic, and leading cloud AI providers to design and deploy core platform capabilities at scale. This is not a coordination or advisory role. It is a builder's role - one with the budget, the mandate, and the organizational reach to make it real. You will own the AI strategy and delivery capability across a $200M+ technology portfolio spanning some of the most operationally complex domains in banking: KYC, fraud detection, wholesale lending operations, global reconciliations, cash management, payments control, non financial regulatory reporting, payroll, and international operations. The scale is significant, the problems are unsolved at this level of complexity, and the impact is direct - the solutions you build will influence how trillions of dollars in transactions flow daily, how regulatory risk is managed, and how Citi's operational infrastructure evolves over the next decade. Unlike a role at a pure play technology company, you will be solving AI challenges where failure has regulatory and systemic consequence - and where success reshapes the economics and resilience of critical global operations. The ambiguity is real, the stakes are high, and the opportunity for lasting impact is unmatched. This role reports directly to the Head of COO Technology. Responsibilities: AI Strategy & Platform Architecture: Define and own the multi year AI strategy for the COO Technology portfolio; translate business intent into a concrete, milestone driven execution roadmap with measurable outcomes Develop architecture blueprints and end to end systems design for Generative AI and agentic workflows across diverse operational domains Build the shared AI platform - reusable models, tooling, guardrails, evaluation frameworks, and accelerators - that reduces duplication, lowers cost, and enables faster adoption across COO Establish and enforce engineering standards, architectural guardrails, and development patterns across all AI initiatives Define a rigorous total cost of ownership model for developing, deploying, and sustaining AI in production Identify and evaluate emerging GenAI technologies, foundation models, and agent frameworks - and make deliberate, defensible decisions on where to build, buy, or partner Production AI Delivery at Enterprise Scale Lead end to end delivery of AI solutions across high complexity, regulated operational environments - from architecture through production deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement Drive the agentic product development lifecycle: runtime harness design, evaluation frameworks, human in the loop workflows, feedback loops, and production readiness criteria Manage cross functional delivery spanning engineering, product, data, architecture, cyber, risk & compliance, and operations Proactively identify and resolve dependencies, critical path risks, and systemic delivery blockers; ensure on time, on budget execution Ensure all AI solutions meet production grade standards: stability, scalability, auditability, explainability, and regulatory compliance Executive Partnership & AI Governance Serve as the senior AI executive point of contact for COO function leads - partnering directly with the Heads of Core Operations Technology, Shared Services Technology, and Controls Technology Lead AI governance forums and Architecture Review Boards; establish clear decision rights and review cadences across the portfolio Translate complex technical realities into clear, compelling narratives for senior non technical audiences - including COO, CIO, and regulatory stakeholders Develop executive level communications - steering committee materials, portfolio dashboards, and milestone tracking - that improve decision velocity and reduce execution risk Ensure full adherence to Citi's internal policies, risk and control frameworks, model risk management (MRM) standards, and applicable regulatory requirements Building the AI Engineering Organization Build, structure, and lead a high performing AI engineering function aligned to COO's operational priorities - including team topology, operating model, and career pathways Foster a culture of technical excellence, intellectual curiosity, and pragmatic innovation: engineers who ship production solutions, not prototypes Own and manage the AI technology portfolio budget ( $200M), driving disciplined funding allocation, financial transparency, and cost to serve accountability Lead productivity and efficiency programs with measurable targets across cycle time, quality, throughput, and engineering leverage Define and optimize vendor and partner strategy, including strategic AI platform partnerships (e.g., Google, Anthropic), third party tooling, and outsourced delivery models Qualifications: Technological 15+ years of experience in Technology - Required Generative AI & LLM Engineering: Deep, hands on expertise in large language models including model selection, fine tuning, prompt engineering, retrieval augmented generation (RAG), vector database design, and evaluation methodologies. About Wintermute Wintermute is one of the largest crypto native algorithmic trading companies in digital assets. We provide liquidity algorithmically across cryptocurrency exchanges and trading platforms, a broad range of OTC trading products as well as support high profile blockchain projects and traditional financial institutions moving into crypto. We actively participate in the development of the blockchain ecosystem through investments, partnerships, and incubation of projects. Working at Wintermute We are looking for an experienced Product Manager to lead the development of our NODE platform, enabling seamless crypto trading experiences for institutional clients. This is a hands on, cross functional role that will have direct impact. You will work closely with engineers, designers, core developers, and stakeholders across the business to define, build, and ship a secure, scalable, and high performance trading platform. What you will work on Define and own the technical architecture for Wintermute's trading products, client facing portals, and internal applications - making the key technology and design decisions that determine how these systems are built and scaled. Lead and mentor a team of engineers across the full stack, setting standards for code quality, review processes, and engineering best practices. Drive technical strategy and roadmap alongside product leadership, translating business requirements into robust, scalable technical solutions. Architect systems that handle high data volumes, real time streaming, and low latency interactions - the kind of challenges you'd find on a trading platform processing millions of events per second. Oversee frontend experience across the full customer lifecycle, from onboarding portals to real time trading dashboards. Strong command of the modern frontend stack: TypeScript, React, Node.js - and the ability to evaluate and adopt new technologies as needed. Hands on server side experience: building and maintaining backend services, APIs, and data pipelines using languages such as Node.js, Python, Go, or similar. Solid understanding of end to end system architecture: APIs, microservices, event driven architectures, WebSockets, message queues, databases, and how frontend and backend systems work together in high performance environments. Experience with infrastructure and DevOps fundamentals: CI/CD, cloud platforms, CDN, monitoring/observability, and deployment strategies. Strong understanding of security best practices (OWASP, authentication/authorization patterns, secure data handling) - especially in a financial context. Experience hiring, mentoring, and growing engineers - building a high performing team, not just managing one. Nice to have Experience at a trading firm, fintech, or any environment where milliseconds matter and data volumes are extreme. Familiarity with algorithmic trading concepts and financial market infrastructure. Experience with performance optimization at scale - profiling, caching strategies, efficient rendering of large datasets. Experience with backend technologies beyond Node.js (Python, Go, Rust, or similar) for performance critical services. Write to us if you Love making hard technical decisions and seeing them pay off at scale. Get energized by building high performance systems that handle serious data volumes. Want to shape the technical direction of a product team, not just execute on someone else's plan. Are passionate about engineering culture - code quality, mentorship, and continuous improvement. Are curious about algorithmic trading and financial markets. Are determined, ambitious yet humble, willing to lead by example. Thrive in a meritocratic environment where impact matters more than titles. Prefer ownership over process - you'd rather build the right thing than follow a playbook. Enjoy working in person with your team (not fully remote). Tip for a successful application We will arrange a UK visa sponsorship and help with relocation to London.

What's in it for me? Competitive salary and compensation structure Generous paid time off and holiday schedule Frequent firm-wide social events and activities Excellent environment for learning and growth Further benefits, depending on location About the Role We are looking for a hands on technical leader to lead Penta's Data Science team: someone who still designs, builds and reviews real solutions while owning execution, delivery and team development. You will be accountable for turning data science capability into shipped, dependable value for our clients and advisory teams, in alignment with our product roadmap. Penta's technology makes client outcomes sharper, faster, more differentiated and harder to replace. The Data Science team's success is measured by how much it improves live client work, not by technical elegance in isolation. Our core data science focus is natural language understanding at scale, processing millions of articles daily across stakeholder sentiment, topic identification over time, competitive peer set selection, summarisation, contextualisation and other processing of unstructured content. Most use cases are creative chains of multiple steps drawn from data processing, exploratory analysis, fundamental ML, NLP, SQL, LLMs and integration into our live systems. What you'll do Lead the team Manage, coach and develop Penta's Data Science team, setting priorities, planning capacity and creating a high trust, high output delivery culture. Translate the product roadmap and advisory needs into a focused data science plan, partnering with Product, Advisory, Database, Development and DevOps teams to keep delivery aligned with client outcomes. Raise the delivery bar for execution, quality, pace, maintainability and cost discipline. Ship production data science and AI systems Design, build and review data science solutions across NLP, LLM workflows, machine learning, SQL and large scale content processing. Own technical design and architecture for data science enabled applications, ensuring solutions are maintainable, supportable, observable and easy to operate. Productionise delivery with DevOps and MLOps, automating deployment in AWS and putting evaluation, monitoring and provider routing controls in place so AI outputs remain reliable and cost effective. Scale practical AI adoption Design and implement AI workflows as skills, models and MCP tools in OpenWebUI, with cost control, provider routing and observability built in. Partner with other departments to turn AI capabilities into everyday workflows, reusable tools and knowledge layers that improve internal productivity and client delivery. Evaluate emerging AI tools, models and agentic patterns, bringing the useful ones into production quickly and responsibly. Success in this role Means the Data Science team is shipping reliable, maintainable AI and analytics capabilities into live client and advisory workflows; team members are growing; delivery is predictable; and Penta's applied AI capability is visibly improving across products and engagements. The Team Our Technology team supports Penta's ambitious delivery plans, using technology to automate solutions, optimise outcomes and support continuous integration and deployment. The six person Data Science team sits alongside Development, Engineering / DevOps & Platform Security, IT and the PMO, and works hand in hand with the Product team. The environment is collaborative, pragmatic and delivery focused. We move quickly, share ideas openly, and use regular hackathons and experiments to generate practical business value. This is the hands on leadership role for that team. Reporting to the CTO, you will lead a team working at the frontier of applied AI and data science, combining production LLM workflows, advanced prompting, agentic tooling, NLP, ML and large scale content processing. You will set its direction, raise its delivery bar, grow its people through hands on coaching, and lead from the front by actively shaping and delivering the work yourself. Our approach to AI is practical We are forward thinking and ambitious in practically applying AI across client facing work, corporate teams, technology and data science. We do not train our own foundation models; we apply, orchestrate and evaluate the best available models from major providers, engineering them into robust workflows that solve real business problems. We validate and document our methodologies through white papers and technical explainers, setting out the academic and analytical foundations behind our products, and the evidence that supports their use. This helps build trust in our tools, why they work and shows how they can be applied. We build on open source AI software, including LiteLLM and OpenWebUI, to maximise the internal value of AI and build durable institutional capability. Reliability, cost control, observability, instruction following, usability and adoption matter most. The team designs reusable workflows, skills, models and MCP tools that support Penta's move towards an AI native advisory operating system. Keeping Penta at the forefront of practical AI in PR, communications and strategic consultancy is part of the role. About You Tech skills required: applied AI, LLMs and data science Advanced Python coding for data science Power user fluency with frontier AI tools, especially Claude: expert level prompting, context engineering, agentic workflows, model selection, evaluation, and practical use of the latest AI native data science techniques Practical experience engineering production LLM workflows, including prompt / skill design, evaluation, cost control, provider routing, agentic / human in the loop orchestration, embeddings, vector search and RAG Implementation of foundational ML algorithms, classic NLP techniques and LLMs Strong SQL for analytical and production use, ideally PostgreSQL, including complex joins, CTEs and aggregation AWS: EC2, ECS, S3; DevOps and automated deployment Git version control Ideally experience with OpenWebUI, LiteLLM, MCP tools and/or Claude Code Key competencies & experience Significant hands on experience as an Applied AI / Data Science technical leader, with recent, practical experience using frontier LLMs, prompting and agentic workflows to ship production systems. Typically this will mean around 10+ years' hands on experience, with technical leadership exposure. A suitable degree, ideally in Software Engineering or a related technical field, and the technical grounding set out above will round out the profile. The successful candidate will also have: An analytical and logical mind, dynamic, positive and ready to make a difference; The ability to communicate complex technical topics clearly to senior, non technical and technical audiences; A passionate drive for code quality, results and getting work shipped, with sound judgement on build vs buy, prioritisation and balancing speed against maintainability, cost and risk. We strongly believe in developing talent and are willing to invest time to develop the people who join our team.
