Contract Software Tester Day Rate: 325- 350 per day Duration: 4 months IR35 Status: Inside IR35 Location: Hybrid Working. 1 day per week in London or Manchester office. We are currently supporting a highly recognised end client in the search for a Contract Software Tester. This role will sit within an Agile delivery environment and play a key part in defining, driving, and implementing robust test strategies across complex digital products. The successful contract Software Tester will act as the QA representative within an agile squad, championing quality across the full delivery lifecycle and ensuring both functional and non-functional requirements are met to a high standard. Key Responsibilities: Design, communicate, and implement test strategies and approaches Collaborate with technical leads to understand requirements Build and contribute to automated test frameworks Identify, troubleshoot, and investigate critical defects and root causes Produce clear and concise test evidence and reporting Communicate status updates and risks to technical and delivery stakeholders Essential Skills: Strong experience in automated RESTful API testing Hands-on experience configuring CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Jenkins) Strong understanding of coding practices and software engineering principles Excellent communication skills with experience managing cross-team issues JavaScript and Java programming experience Experience with Rest Assured and Cucumber Strong experience with Gatling and Scala AWS experience including Lambda, DynamoDB, CloudWatch, and related services Proven Agile environment experience Desirable Skills: Any Exposure to Node.js and Playwright Contract testing experience (PACT or Karate framework) Awareness of security testing practices Due to the nature of the role, contractors must have recent commercial experience across all essential skills listed above to be considered. What You'll Do Support the specification, design, coding and testing of complex real-time embedded software in Ada producing mission critical quality software, to high integrity levels, company standards and customer requirements. Take ownership of complex tasks across the full software lifecycle from requirements to integration, testing and delivery. Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and systems engineering teams, working closely across disciplines to develop robust solutions whilst maintaining independence in your work. What We're Looking For Expert knowledge of the Ada software language including OO design principles. Expert capability in debugging in an embedded real-time environment with a COTS RTOS. Good knowledge of UML. Expert knowledge of a variety of Verification & Validation techniques, and the value of each. Experience of requirements engineering, hands-on integration and target testing. Good knowledge of developing software within a mature development process framework. Desirable Defence / EW business domain experience. Experience of Dimensions, DOORS, Rhapsody, VxWorks, AdaCore GNAT Pro & VectorCAST. Experience and understanding of development to RTCA/DO-178B or equivalent standards Why This Contract?
