Head EMEA Refund Fraud, Integrity - Fixed Term Contract
Jackalope Digital LLC
About the Role The head of EMEA Refund Fraud will lead Doordash's EMEA strategy for preventing and managing refund abuse across our marketplace. You will be accountable for the performance of the Credit and Refund (C&R) Fraud domain: setting the long-term vision, determining where we focus our resources, and building the team, controls and capabilities required to reduce fraud sustainably while protecting the experience of genuine customers. This is a senior leadership role at the intersection of Integrity, Customer Care, Product, Engineering, Analytics and Finance. You will lead a team of experienced fraud and strategy professionals and work with senior leaders across Deliveroo to make complex decisions about fraud risk, customer experience, operational cost and product investment. You will need to be comfortable operating in ambiguity, identifying problems before they become material, and turning complex and sometimes incomplete signals into a clear strategy. Success will come not from personally solving every problem, but from creating the direction, operating mechanisms and team that enable Deliveroo to manage refund fraud effectively at scale. What You'll Be Doing Setting the C&R Fraud Strategy Set and own the 1-2 year vision and strategy for C&R Fraud, translating wider Integrity and business priorities into a focused roadmap. Proactively identify emerging risks, systemic vulnerabilities and opportunities rather than waiting for problems to be assigned. Determine the highest-value problems for the team to solve and make clear choices about where we should (and should not) invest. Define how we balance fraud loss, customer experience, operational cost and growth when designing controls. Build compelling business cases for significant product, policy and operational investments. Owning Performance and Risk Be accountable for C&R Fraud performance and establish a clear set of outcomes, targets and guardrails. Develop a comprehensive view of fraud exposure, including fraud cost, abuse rates, loss per order, false positives, customer impact and operational cost. Partner with Finance and senior leadership to quantify financial exposure and inform risk appetite decisions. Establish mechanisms to identify material changes in performance, understand their drivers and ensure effective action is taken. Ensure the organisation can detect and respond quickly to new abuse patterns and emerging threats. Build Scalable Fraud Prevention Capabilities Own the effectiveness of the overall C&R fraud framework across customer and partner journeys. Identify systemic control gaps and ensure the right preventative, detective and responsive controls are in place. Set the direction for product decisioning, eligibility logic, automation, friction, policies and operational interventions. Ensure rules, models and controls are continually evaluated against both fraud outcomes and customer experience guardrails. Create effective feedback loops between frontline investigations, Analytics, Product and Engineering so that new insights translate into better prevention. Challenge legacy processes and controls, simplifying or retiring them where they no longer provide sufficient value. Lead Cross-Functional Strategy and Investment Act as the senior C&R Fraud partner to Product, Engineering, Customer Care, Merchant, Finance, Analytics and other Integrity teams. Translate fraud problems into clear product and business opportunities and influence roadmaps outside your direct reporting line. Lead complex decisions where fraud prevention, customer experience, commercial performance and operational efficiency are in tension. Create alignment around priorities, decision rights and accountability without relying on excessive consensus. Make longer term trade offs and ensure resources are concentrated on the initiatives with the greatest expected impact. Communicate complex risks and recommendations clearly to senior and executive stakeholders. Build and Lead a High-Performing Team Lead and develop a team of experienced fraud, strategy and operations professionals. Translate your strategy into clear, measurable outcomes for individual team members. Empower your team to own significant problems independently while providing effective challenge, coaching and direction. Establish strong operating mechanisms and rituals for reviewing performance, prioritisation, delivery and emerging risks. Build capability and succession within the team, identifying development opportunities and future talent needs. Create an inclusive environment in which different perspectives are actively sought and people are able to challenge assumptions. Hold yourself and others accountable for delivering ambitious outcomes while maintaining focus and sustainable ways of working. Requirements We are looking for an experienced leader who has previously owned a meaningful fraud, risk, trust & safety, operational or related business domain. You will ideally bring: Significant experience in fraud, risk strategy, trust & safety, marketplace integrity, strategy & operations or a related domain, typically gained over 10+ years. Experience leading and developing experienced individual contributors and/or managers. Demonstrated ownership of a substantial business outcome, risk domain or portfolio rather than solely individual projects. A track record of defining and executing strategies across a 1-2 year horizon. Experience identifying complex problems, setting direction and making high quality decisions where the answer is not immediately clear. Strong commercial judgement and the ability to evaluate financial impact alongside customer and operational consequences. Experience influencing senior stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Operations, Analytics and Finance. Strong analytical judgement and the ability to use data, customer insight and operational evidence to challenge assumptions and make decisions. Experience translating complex problems into scalable product, policy or operational solutions. Strong people leadership, with evidence of developing talented individuals and creating teams that operate effectively with increasing autonomy. Excellent written and verbal communication, including the ability to turn complex analysis into clear executive level recommendations. Experience with refund abuse, customer claims fraud, payments fraud, marketplace abuse or adjacent fraud domains would be valuable, but deep expertise in refund fraud itself is not essential. We are equally interested in leaders who have demonstrated the ability to quickly understand a complex risk domain and build the strategy and organisation required to improve it. What Success Looks Like In this role, you will have built a clear and widely understood C&R Fraud strategy, established measurable outcomes and guardrails, and focused the organisation on a number of high impact priorities. You will have materially improved our ability to prevent and respond to refund abuse while protecting genuine customers, created a scalable control and monitoring framework, and influenced the product investments required to address systemic vulnerabilities. You will have built a team capable of owning complex problems independently - creating an organisation that anticipates risk and continuously improves rather than reacting to the fraud we see today. Senior Full Stack Payments Product Engineer
Tickettailor
About Us Ticket Tailor is committed to empowering a diverse range of event creators through simple and affordable ticketing. But that's not all, we're also on a mission to make sure that every single ticket sold has a positive impact on all stakeholders, our team, our planet and the communities we operate in. We call this "Growth on Purpose" and are proud to be a certified B Corp, officially putting business for good at the centre of everything we do. Last year, over 10 million orders were placed through the Ticket Tailor platform, for all types of events from art installations to water parks. We have a world-class NPS score, and pride ourselves in building a simple platform built with a customer-first mindset. We're a fully independent, profitable, and bootstrapped company meaning we don't have to answer to anyone except ourselves and our customers, allowing us to scale the company sustainably and with soul. We work hybrid-remote and do two days per week in office, in our lovely space in Hackney. About The Role We're launching a brand-new team to build a new payments product, and we're hiring two Payment Product Engineers to form the engineering heart of it. It's a real mix of work: a greenfield opportunity in the new payments product, alongside maintaining and extending the payment integrations we already run. You'll help evolve and ship the system that lets event organisers get paid through Ticket Tailor, taking real ownership of how it comes together. You'll be motivated by the impact you deliver to customers; product-minded, curious, and a strong problem solver. You'll care as much about why a feature matters to an event organiser as how it's built. You'll work in a small team with two engineers alongside a Product Manager, with support from our Architects and our Head of Product Design, pairing, reviewing, unblocking, and shaping the product together. You'll own the work you deliver, from understanding the problem, to designing small blocks of long-term value, to the quality of what ships. As part of a small team you'll have a real say in the technology decisions and share in the successes with the whole company. What you'll do Build our new payments product whilst extending the payment integrations we already run - secure, well-managed, high-volume work you're proud of. Lead the build, scoping against a lightweight build plan and holding the quality bar in line with the wider Ticket Tailor architecture vision and product principles. Stay driven by the impact delivered to event organisers, caring deeply about their experience and judge whether what you've built is actually working by identifying meaningful customer signals and iterating off them. Maintain a high bar for quality and make sure what you build matches our architectural vision and product principles, designing clean services with strong separation of concerns. Work closely and generously within the team: pairing, unblocking, reviewing, and giving and receiving feedback. Use AI tools creatively and fluently to amplify your impact, reaching for new tools and ways of working rather than defaulting to how things have always been done. Bring judgement on payment-system design that others can lean on. What we're looking for Essential A deep understanding of payment systems, evidenced by your work, for example building high-scale, secure payment integrations. Awareness of PCI DSS and what building to that standard demands. Experience working in a product team alongside Product Managers. A genuine drive to work in an AI-native way - you're curious and you're happy to change how you work as the tools evolve to raise the quality and pace of your work. This is core to how our team operates. Fluency amplifying your own impact through AI and agentic engineering tools, acting as a force multiplier to those around you. Experience leading or mentoring within a team. Desirable Experience integrating payment systems into a high-scale SaaS product with Stripe or similar third-party tools. Experience judging impact through customer feedback signals, knowing what to measure, what "working" looks like, and how to adjust. Strong system design skills - you know how to design clean, maintainable, extendable services from first principles. We're open on language. PHP experience is useful (it's our primary stack), but we're happy to consider strong engineers from any modern language who are ready to pick it up. How you work Keep it simple. You don't overcomplicate, you reason from first principles, and you know when to be pragmatic and when to polish. You're ambitious to take long-term ownership of the payments product, building a sustainable, extendable, maintainable codebase. Focused on impact. You have a deep care and empty for event organisers and you're excited to watch adoption and revenue grow, using signals to iterate and improve. You're security minded and you build with care and awareness so things can't be exploited. Driven by feedback. You have a growth mindset and see feedback as a tool for getting better. Human after all. You're happiest when working as part of a team. You thrive in working in kind, collaborative spaces where you can be vulnerable and transparent. At Ticket Tailor, we're passionate about creating a diverse and inclusive environment where people can thrive, be inspired, and feel comfortable to be themselves. As a Certified B-Corp, we lead from the front, and with purpose, to disrupt the ticketing industry while ensuring we accommodate and celebrate people of all backgrounds along the way. We believe that diverse teams enable us to have different perspectives and points of view, making us even stronger in achieving our goals. We encourage candidates from all backgrounds to apply and join us on our mission. Our Tools PHP is our primary language, and we use Laminas and Mezzio frameworks AI is woven into how we work, using Claude Code and agentic development workflows Linear for project management, Notion for docs Cloudflare for CDN, queueing and workers Github and Github Actions for source control and CI Incident.io for incident management Datadog for logging, monitoring and metrics, Amplitude for adoption tracking The Process If your application is shortlisted, then you will receive detailed information about the next stages of the process. As an outline, the process will include: An initial discovery call to learn more about you, your motivation, suitability for the position and to clarify any questions you have (30 minutes) A technical test for you to complete in your own time (up to 2 hours) followed by a 30 mins review call with the Hiring Manager An on-site interview with wider team members focused on system design, product thinking and ways of working Timelines We'll review applications as they're received and invite suitable candidates to an initial conversation on a rolling basis. The role will be advertised until 30th August. We encourage you to submit your application as early as possible, although we reserve the right to extend the advertising period if required. A note on using AI in your application You're welcome to use AI to help structure, refine or proofread your answers. However, your responses should accurately reflect your own skills, experience and achievements. If you're shortlisted, you should be prepared to discuss and expand on your responses during the interview. Bear in mind that hiring teams read a large number of applications. Responses that rely heavily on AI can sometimes feel generic, so taking the time to make your application personal and specific will help it stand out.

For example: identify emerging risks across tax regimes, behaviours and customer groups; interpret external trends e.g. in technology, society and macro-economic futures. Develop applied business propositions and influence senior stakeholders' decision-making. Roles will typically include line management of 1-2 colleagues, alongside leading priority projects. Successful candidates should expect to lead in one of these areas and support and develop experience across several others. - Translate data and evidence produced by others into targeted business insight, prioritisation frameworks and options: For example: highlight developing strategic choices and recommendations to senior stakeholders to advance HMRC compliance strategy; shape future evidence needs; prioritise targets, activity and resources. - Develop prioritisation pathways and support cross-HMRC adoption. For example: work with stakeholders to build a shared understanding of priorities; develop persuasive narratives and options for senior leaders (incl. ExCom) that enable cross-HMRC mobilisation; support continuous improvement of prioritisation approaches and products, including commissioning analysis. - Develop SPI's data and evidence function to produce targeted tax risk assessments and recommendations of key HMRC priorities: For example: triangulate (existing) reviews of management information data, qualitative and quantitative evidence and opinion; lead targeted secondary analyses and support strategic target setting. - Further develop a prototype model of residual tax risk to help ensure HMRC interventions are optimal in closing the tax gap: Design and deliver stakeholder workshops to refine the model; introduce more quantitative inputs; embed application to ensure the model is used to prioritise strategic direction and plans. - Develop forward-looking macro-economic trends, foresight and application. For example: identify emerging risks across tax regimes, behaviours and customer groups; interpret external trends e.g. in technology, society and macro-economic futures. Develop applied business propositions and influence senior stakeholders' decision-making. Roles will typically include line management of 1-2 colleagues, alongside leading priority projects. You'll work flexibly across different work areas, collaborating with colleagues from a range of disciplines to solve complex problems. We are also currently recruiting a number of SO vacancies in the team - these vacancies align with the G7 posts. Candidates are welcome to apply for both G7 and SO roles, reference number 474133. Person specification We particularly encourage applications from groups currently underrepresented in our workforce and as a team we are committed to creating an inclusive working environment where everyone can thrive. However, you must have demonstrable knowledge, capability and experience across all, and/or depth experience in at least one, of the following three 'key professional skillsets': 1. For example: Responding to political, economic and organisational contexts; Applying judgment to complex decisions and uncertainty; Providing senior advice and recommendations including business recommendations from data and evidence; proposing recommendations when evidence is incomplete. 2. Applied quantitative data analysis and insight - Working with management information systems or large quantitative databases. Understanding approaches to and the strengths and limitations of using quantitative data in strategic decision-making - including knowing when and how to triangulate with qualitative evidence. Experience in appraisal and/or modelling techniques. Experience in analytical assurance. 3. Macro-economic trends and horizon scanning - Using structured futures and foresight techniques e.g. environmental scanning or scenario planning. Analysing and applying macro-economic trends to strategy contexts. Experience applying forward-looking insight into strategic decision-making that impacts policy, strategy, direction or decisions.
