What the role of the Mechanical Design Engineer entails: Some of the main duties of the Mechanical Design Engineer will include: Carry out detail design activities to meet the requirements of design for manufacture Hand calculations and preliminary sizing of components, including material selection, gear rating, shaft and bearing analysis, rotor dynamics, other drive system elements including structural components, couplings, lubrication systems, relevant instrumentation and control systems CAD activities including conceptual design, 3D and 2D modelling.
