Kraken is the technology tentacle of the Octopus Energy Group. Our Team Kraken is the technology platform behind Octopus Energy! The platform is also offered to utilities in a SaaS model and is based on a modern, cloud-based architecture with continuous deployments that enables high-speed innovation. Kraken Utilities We're now charging our Kraken platform to power utilities beyond just energy (think water, broadband, ) and have created a new business area Kraken Utilities . Over the last year we have built this team from scratch to re-architect, design, and develop our Kraken software platform to solve complex industry wide problems within the water and broadband sectors (customer experience, water leak detection software). The Kraken Utilities team is now 50+ engineers and have already signed 4 clients (Portsmouth Water, Severn Trent, Leep, and Cuckoo Broadband). We are currently in a very exciting growth phase. Together with the rest of the team, you will bring the same revolutionary customer experience, operational excellence and speed of innovation that Kraken is powering across energy retailers to other sectors. As Head of Engineering for the Water or Broadband Industry, your main responsibility will be to manage 4 5 sub-teams working on building the water/broadband product and implementing Kraken in this other utility. You will manage Engineering leads and work closely with engineering teams as they identify issues and implement creative solutions to address them. You will manage your own project deliverables, contribute to product strategy and help develop and grow our teams. We are particularly excited to hear from people willing to immerse themselves in their area of expertise, from environmental sustainability to engineering excellence, and show strong product ownership. Our Technology All technology is written and maintained by a global, multi-disciplinary team of around 700 engineers. This includes server-side, client-side and mobile engineers working closely with UX experts, copywriters and designers. We're low on process, with a high level of trust given to individuals. Most of our server-side applications are written in Python. The Kraken platform is built using Django and Celery, and makes extensive use of GraphQL and REST APIs. We use an immutable infrastructure approach to manage our AWS environments. We heavily use EKS, RDS Aurora, AmazonMQ, S3 and EventBridge in our platform architecture. We practise continuous deployment and release new versions of Kraken around 200 times per day. Engineering standards are high. We pair program, thoroughly review and test code before it deploys, and maintain fast, high-value test suites. We have weekly tech talks, a day a month devoted to sharpening our internal tools, upgrading dependencies, paying off technical debt - we call it "spa day" - and we can often be found at tech meet-ups and conferences. Many of our coding conventions are open-source and we maintain a tech blog . Kraken is a great place to learn, work with some talented engineers and level-up your skills. What you'll do: Lead and scale the Kraken Utilities team, overseeing a talented group of over 25 engineers. Embed a great engineering, problem solving and customer-first culture Provide leadership and mentorship to 5 7 engineering leads to build high-performing teams. Ensure that the engineering team ships consistently high quality, reliable, scalable, secure and performant software. Architect new components of the Kraken platform and drive continuous development to meet evolving client needs. Collaborate with client stakeholders to facilitate smooth migration and adoption of our platform as a service (SaaS). Work closely with the existing Kraken team to help build a consistent platform Collaborate closely with the Telco team to ensure consistency Communicate with a wide range of stakeholders (technical and non technical). What you'll need: Technical depth and breadth to drive the future development of the platform Structured problem solving skills to decompose and solve ambiguous problems Ability to hack a quick prototype and to properly architect a system design (and the ability/pragmatism to decide when to do what) Inspirational leadership style and entrepreneurial energy Past experience in one of the areas like enterprise software, Large scale transaction processing, AI and machine learning software is desirable Scaling up platforms serving a few geographies and 10X millions to multi geography multi entity 100X millions would be ideal Familiarity with key technology components underpinning Kraken's stack ie python, django, django-REST-framework, AWS, kubernetes, terraform, react and graphQL, is required Experience managing teams of teams (20+ engineers is desired). LaplandUK is a purpose driven entertainment company that was conceived in 2007 by Mike & Alison Battle, a couple with a passion to reimagine the Father Christmas myth and create the ultimate immersive Christmas experience where families could celebrate the wonder of childhood and specifically, their children's precious fleeting years of belief. Frustrated by multiple experiences of the poor treatment of their own sons' 'belief', Mike and Alison Battle, embarked on a 17-year journey to elevate this special moment of childhood through their original storytelling world and so bring it to life: Lapland. Their ground-breaking immersive show opened in Tunbridge Wells in 2007 and immediately captured the attention and hearts of parents nationwide. Powered by their purpose to 'honour childhood together,' the couple partnered with Hollywood set designers and West End performance professionals to produce an experience of unprecedented quality and detail. The show moved to Ascot in 2013 and has now welcomed over 1.5 million 'believers,' with tickets selling out on release for what the press now terms 'the Glastonbury of Christmas'. During 2023, the Battles strengthened their senior leadership team with the recruitment of a proven Live Show Director from IMG who is preparing the launch of a second live show in Cheshire, UK in 2025. The opportunity to continue show expansion is material, both domestically and internationally, through 1st party and 3rd party (franchise) operation, with plans to launch a first international show in 2026/27. Alongside plans for the live expansion, Lapland has also turned its attention to two additional channels to reach parents and children outside of the live event itself. Firstly, the consumer product opportunity based on their story IP, and how they could bring the authentic magic of the LaplandUK live show into the home via eCommerce. In 2024 Lapland launched a number of initiatives (personalised Letters from Lapland, Christmas Eve Boxes and more), which drove their eCommerce revenues by x10 in 2023. Secondly, more attention was spent on Lapland's Story IP, with the launch of their Elfcast (podcast), which hit number 1 in the UK Family Charts (and top 10 podcasts worldwide) over Christmas. The content team are now exploring options to bring their characters and stories to life through more audio and video throughout the year, resulting in greater connection to both parents and children yearlong. The combination of our Live, commerce & content/IP verticals sets Lapland on the path to become the definitive, global Christmas brand for the 21st Century. In early 2024, LaplandUK commenced a strategic review with proven growth consultancy The Growth Foundation to codify a plan and help guide LaplandUK's expansion, with particular attention to requirements in their executive, senior operational team, technology and systems architecture and tactical plans in eCommerce to enable and unlock their huge growth potential. The growth plan sees the upgrade of LaplandUK's system architecture with new ERP, Single Guest (Customer) View and material improvements in Lapland's digital front end (website & app to allow Ticketing, eCom & Content to be accessed in one place) as well as investment in new strategic / leadership and tactical / execution roles across all business functions. About the role This is a career-defining role, and allows the right candidate to make their mark, learn while doing and work to propel Lapland UK into a global multi-channel, international brand from the solid foundation built to date. HeliosX is one of the world's fastest growing HealthTech companies. We're committed to improving the quality, accessibility, and affordability of healthcare for everyone. In 2013, our Founder Dwayne D'Souza recognised the need for prescription healthcare to catch up with other industries by taking advantage of technological innovations - to enable rapid delivery of medications and improved customer convenience. Since our founding, we've been entirely bootstrapped - we achieved product-market fit and profitability without ANY external funding whatsoever. Our mission is to help people across the world get the medications they need, faster. Through our sites and platforms, customers can conveniently access prescription medications and treatments to treat a range of health problems, as well as purchase clinical-grade, personalised skincare. We have dedicated in-house clinical teams authorised to prescribe medications, and we own a pharma business capable of manufacturing many of the medicines and skincare products we provide. We're an in-house, Direct-To-Consumer (D2C) proposition all the way down - and we're passionate about that approach. Our revenue reached a record $76 million USD last year, with unprecedented 32% year-on-year growth. With a 40% year-on-year growth target for 2024, it's an exciting time to be part of the HeliosX journey. Come and help in making access to medication quicker and easier than ever before in human history! The Opportunity We're looking to hire a Senior Product Manager to lead our efforts in experimentation and conversion rate optimisation across HeliosX Group brands. You will have ownership of our testing and experimentation roadmap, working cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Design, Analytics, and Growth teams to drive improvements in conversion rates and customer lifetime value. You will utilise data from a broad range of sources - customer behaviour, user research, industry benchmarks, and the results from AB testing and on-site experimentation - to enhance engagement and create best-in-class customer journeys. We're scaling up our experimentation efforts following an incredible year of growth for HeliosX and this role will be key to our continued success as we launch new brands and products, and move into new markets throughout 2024. Reporting to the Director of Product, this is a full time, permanent role. The successful candidate will be hybrid, with 2 days per week expected at our offices in Central London. Key responsibilities include: Deliver regular analyses of user behaviour and conversion flows to identify site improvements and make recommendations that drive performance Own and deliver our AB testing and experimentation strategy; build and manage a roadmap of experiments while working with Engineers to facilitate their execution Look after the experimentation backlog and take a data-driven approach to prioritisation of different tests. Collaborate with Product Designers to identify and implement key improvements across the customer journey; reducing friction, enhancing engagement, and increasing conversion Utilise data to inform the recommendation engine for up- and cross-selling additional products, as well as other strategic initiatives Project manage the creation of dedicated landing pages for new product launches (showcasing products alongside effective call to action elements), while ensuring prominent placement of new products on the website and ease of navigation Track, monitor, and report on acquisition and conversion metrics/KPIs, as well as the results of new experiments and initiatives, to a range of audiences across the business Provide support and mentorship in experimentation and CRO to other Product team members and support the Director of Product in ramping up/advocating for the discipline across the business What you'll bring to HeliosX Strong experience in prior Product and/or Growth roles, ideally in a high growth start/scale up environment Deep technical experience within conversion rate optimisation and AB testing Passion for understanding and influencing customer behaviour to bring about positive business outcomes Prior experience supporting B2C/D2C-based businesses Data fluency; you'll be extremely analytical and data driven, with examples of working with complex data sets to surface actionable insights and set priorities Experience working successfully with great Product Designers and Engineers Why work with us?
