We are currently looking for a Net Zero Waste Consultant to join our Sustainability team, bringing together the systems thinking of waste management with carbon accounting and net zero roadmaps. Purpose: Due to our position at the forefront of waste carbon thinking, demand for carbon management and net zero support from the waste sector is outstripping our team s resources. We are seeking to recruit an experienced senior or principal level consultant to lead and deliver net zero and carbon management projects for our waste management and local authority clients. You will be: Analysing and manipulating waste data to support a wide range of waste management, net zero and circular economy projects Working across the whole Resources and Waste Management Team project portfolio, with an initial focus on strategic advisory and carbon accounting support to existing and new clients Providing support to key decision makers in the waste industry, particularly, Local Authorities and waste management companies Working on projects such as carbon modelling, Scope 1, 2 and 3 assessment, net zero roadmapping and system decarbonisation Supporting and delivering projects in data analysis and options modelling Helping develop new business through client relationships and leading tender responses Leading and supervising projects, and acting as a technical quality checker for models developed by other team members. Key accountabilities: Project Management and Task Leadership Reporting to the Business Area Manager, Project Director or Project Manager on a project-by-project basis Responsible for the quality of own work and the work of others, both written and in spreadsheet form Tasks to be delivered to time and within budget Expected to contribute towards the process of winning new business, through networks and relationships, and including writing proposals Key competencies and experience: Project management and delivery including management of more junior staff and sub-contractors Experience working in a consultancy or similar environment Knowledgeable about the UK (or similar) waste market and the key players, service models and technologies or experience applying systems thinking to carbon management in another sector Demonstratable technical expertise across any of the following areas: Energy and carbon management planning and strategy Net Zero strategy development and associated Science Based Targets Carbon accounting, compliance, and measurement techniques and calculation methods for scopes 1 and 2 and CR reporting software, including understanding of scope 3 emissions sources Carbon footprinting, verification and assurance Carbon data analysis and modelling A high level of numeracy and a talent for numerical analysis Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel Ability to interpret complex issues and data, and identify solutions quickly Must be able to conduct and analyse appropriately referenced research with minimal guidance, and arrive at well-reasoned conclusions from its analysis Ability to write clear, concise and accurate technical reports; and Desirable: An ability to process and understand waste related data to enable its use as part of a project/model Experience of undertaking carbon modelling for the waste sector demonstrating an understanding of the complex Scope 1, 2 and 3 implications of the value chain and the many players operating within it Experience with waste carbon assessment tools such as WRATE, Simapro, and other industry carbon tools such as the Entreprises pour l Environnement (EpE) C;Protocol for quantification of GHG emissions from waste management activitiesD; (EpE Protocol) methodology Comfortable developing, using and reviewing waste related models, predominantly in Excel i.e. wasteflows, collection/resourcing models, option analysis/costing, etc Working here Ricardo is an exciting and rewarding place to work and you have the opportunity to make a difference.
