About the role: We are looking for people to join one of our established and expanding Commercial Teams and over the course of your career at Thames Water, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects ranging in value from £25k to £200M. In this entry role, you will learn to provide advice to your colleagues across our business in order to help Thames Water obtain Value for Money and Excellent Service for our customers and from our supply chain. You will gain insight into how the UK's largest water company selects and manages its suppliers across a wide spectrum of services, from supplying pumps to repairing leaks and recruiting temporary staff, through to managing our facilities and treatment plant upgrades. What you'll be doing: Assist the Manager in ensuring that payments are made on time and in accordance with the Contracts they are working on Help ensure that appropriate processes are in place and monitored on portfolio of Contracts to ensure that Contractual Compliance is maintained, and any non-performance is identified, and corrective actions implemented as necessary Assist the Manager with the management and optimisation of budgets and spend (in conjunction with Finance). Support the Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor with the resolution of Claims as necessary. Support the Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor with Purchaser duties and other task under the Alliance Contracts. What we're looking for: Some practical work experience is highly desirable C Grade or above in GCSE Mathematics or equivalent AS or A Level Qualifications or equivalent desirable Desire to work towards a Qualification in Surveying that would enable RICS Membership Some knowledge of water regulation (incl. OFWAT price review methodology) Strong attention to detail, IT skills and competence, especially in Microsoft Excel Good communication skills What's in it for you? This role offers you the opportunity to become part of the Thames Water family and work to become a Chartered Quantity Surveyor. In this role you will be enrolled onto a Degree in Quantity Surveying, depending on your existing qualification and Thames Water will fund this in full, subject to a learning contract. The team also has a very successful structured APC Training programme with the support network of a number of Chartered Quantity Surveyors, RICS APC Assessors, as well as colleagues studying to become MRICS and FRICS. Our competitive salary package includes an excellent contributory pension, 24 days holiday per year increasing to 28 with length of service and a wider benefits scheme.
