Hours : 10 hours per week Cleaner, Zero-hours, as required Relief Warden About the Role Cleaner / Relief Warden: Thorngate Churcher Trust is seeking a reliable and motivated individual to join our team in a dual-role position as Cleaner / Relief Warden. This unique opportunity combines regular cleaning duties with occasional cover for our Warden team, helping ensure our residents receive consistent support and our schemes remain safe, clean, and welcoming. This role is ideal for someone who is proactive, takes pride in high standards of cleanliness, and is committed to supporting older residents while promoting their independence. Key Responsibilities Role 1 : Cleaner (12 hours per week) Maintain a high standard of cleanliness across all communal areas, including laundry rooms, refuse areas, hallways, and shared facilities. Work safely and comply with all Health & Safety and COSHH regulations. Manage cleaning supplies, including ordering and safe storage. Report hazards, damage, or maintenance issues promptly. Follow all Trust policies and attend training as required. Role 2: Relief Warden (Zero Hours, As Required) Provide warden cover across Trust schemes to ensure continuity of service. Show prospective residents vacant accommodation and support the lettings process. Maintain building security, including managing keys, access, and contractor entry. Monitor the condition of communal areas, furnishings, and equipment, reporting repairs as needed. Carry out routine safety checks such as fire alarms, call points, smoke alarms, and emergency lighting. Support effective communication and handovers with Wardens and the Housing & Support Manager. Assist with routine administrative and clerical duties. Respond promptly to emergency calls while on duty or standby, contacting emergency services or next of kin as required. Conduct daily wellbeing checks on residents and arrange short-term assistance where needed. Encourage resident independence while reporting any concerns about increased frailty. Assist with resident social activities as required. Maintain accurate records, including diaries, inventories, and resident information. We operate 124 sheltered flats for assisted living, all with 24 hour warden support, and a 44 bed care home offering residential care for frail elderly people and for those living with dementia. We are now recruiting for a Housekeeping Manager to take responsibility for managing the housekeeping and laundry services within the home, leading a dedicated housekeeping team! You will ensure robust infection control practices, and work closely with residents, families and colleagues to create a clean, safe and homely living environment. This is very much a hands-on management role, requiring excellent organisational skills, strong leadership and a compassionate approach. As our Housekeeping Manager, you will: Lead and supervise the housekeeping and laundry team, ensuring high cleaning standards across the home. Proven experience supervising or managing staff in a similar environment. Smart, professional appearance. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills and confidence liaising with residents, families, colleagues and suppliers. Good level of education, including Maths and English. Ability to prioritise and manage a varied workload under pressure. High level of accuracy, attention to detail and commitment to confidentiality. Strong organisational, administrative and time-management skills. Intermediate to advanced IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams. Able to work unsupervised and handle routine administrative duties. Positive, self-motivated, flexible and proactive approach. Commitment to safeguarding residents and promoting their wellbeing. Able to work shifts, including weekends. It would be great if you had: Infection control qualifications or training. Experience working within a care home or regulated environment.
