Cardiff has the largest Sustainable Communities for Learning Programme in Wales and will deliver a number of new schools as part of the programme. The responsibility for the multi-million-pound procurement, design and delivery of this significant capital programme sits within the Economic Development Service area of the Council, with the Education Directorate being the client. Cardiff also has a large number of developer-led schools that are being delivered as part of the new major housing sites in the city, in addition to other significant capital investments in the existing education estates that will need to be effectively managed. The Council therefore, want to recruit an experienced delivery manager who can work alongside the Head of Design, Construction and Maintenance (DCM) to ensure successful delivery of this large and complex capital programme. The purpose of the role is to provide effective management control of a large number of complex multi-million pound capital school projects that form part of the wider Council's Sustainable Communities for Learning Programme, the Education Capital Programme and the new Section 106 Developer Led schools. This will include ensuring successful delivery of the agreed capital schemes, through effective planning, design, procurement, managing risk, achieving high quality outcomes and ensure value for money. Also maintaining effective collaboration & communication across the Council services, particularly with Education, Procurement, Planning & Transportation to ensure a coherent approach to the implementation of the schools' capital programme. The role will also involve providing professional advice and support to the Economic Development and Education Directorates on all aspects relating to the provision of education accommodation. The role will manage the internal and external multi discipline professional services teams that are allocated to each projects, including Technical Project Managers, Quantity Surveyors, Architects, Structural, Electrical and Mechanical Engineers and ensure they are providing an effective service. The role will also have the responsibility for managing the client responsibilities under CDM Regulations 2015 for each project. Cardiff Safeguarding and Children looked after teams are now based in 3 localities across the city at St Mellons in the East, Fairwater in the North and Cardiff Bay in the South enabling staff to be based within the communities that they serve. Within the team's geographical area you will support children and young people through robust assessment, outcome focused planning and effective intervention to support them in achieving positive outcomes within their families and communities. Working within a restorative practice approach, you will work in partnership with families and multi-agency colleagues in intervening to address both the presenting concerns and underlying difficulties. You will form a critical key part of the locality management team: shaping its practice and development alongside the other PSWs, Team Managers and your Operational Manager. Intake and Assessment is a fast paced and exciting team. Due to Cardiff's demography the work is diverse and progressive. Practitioners undertake Well-being and S47 assessments and provide short term interventions to support families to increase safety within the home. Practitioners hold cases for a short period of time; long term work is generally transferred at the first planning meeting. The Team are on a duty rota for one week in every three, meaning you have the opportunity to plan and record your work in a structured and organised way. The Cardiff Youth Justice Service (YJS) is a multi-agency partnership at the forefront of developing innovative interventions for children and young people aged 10 - 17 who have offended or are at risk of Justice. We currently have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced Senior YJS Practitioner to join the service. The post is offered on a permanent basis and will sit within the Court & Case Management Team. About the job The role of the Senior Practitioner requires an understanding and experience of: the criminal justice system as it affects children and young people (aged 10 -17) who offend, a practical understanding of the principles of restorative justice and restorative approaches, working with disaffected children and young people, their families and partner agencies.
