As iwoca's Office & Community Manager, you'll support our People Strategy by maintaining and continuously improving our four office spaces, currently in London, Leeds, Berlin and Frankfurt. You'll also be responsible for ensuring that we have a strong community of iwocans that continue to love iwoca as a place to work, both within those office spaces and outside of them. You'll be based at our main headquarters in Central London and work remotely with members of our office team based in Leeds, Berlin and Frankfurt. This is a fixed-term, one-year maternity cover contract, with a required start date by 1st April at the latest. You'll be responsible for The smooth day to day running of our office spaces including coordinating food deliveries, handling visitors and liaising with our building management to quickly fix issues as they arise. Managing our agreements and contracts with suppliers that support making our office great. Ensuring that general health and safety and fire regulations are being met and kept up to date. Liaising with our landlords to ensure that our office spaces meet our requirements as well as scale and work with our estate agents to find new office options when we expect to outgrow current desk space. Planning and implementing any changes we want to make to our office spaces, including working with external designers when we need a refresh. The planning and delivery of events that are key in maintaining community across iwocans, including our Summer and Winter parties and retreats. Owning and delivering a schedule of events throughout the year that keep our community connected and having fun, such as pancake day, table tennis tournaments and Eid celebrations. What we're looking for At least two years experience in a similar Office/Community Manager role, ideally within a fast growing company with a team that really values the office spaces they work from. Experience planning and delivering whole company events. You'll be proactive and anticipate potential issues, resolving them before they arise, keeping things moving seamlessly. Experience handling the end to end process for an office move or building out a brand new office space. Strong negotiation skills with experience managing supplier and vendor relationships, with a focus on value for money. A strong desire to help people and make yourself useful, you'll be someone who gets a lot of satisfaction from helping others. Excellent organisational, interpersonal and time management skills Creativity, you'll bring fresh ideas for how to make our office spaces and community even stronger and be able to deliver those ideas in a thoughtful and structured way. Great stakeholder management and ability to quickly build trust and alignment with everyone across the business, from senior leadership to new joiners on their first day. Able to work under pressure and prioritise effectively based on what's the most important thing to get done at any particular moment. Successfully leading iwoca's data science teams will require close collaboration with engineering, product, and commercial teams. The role As the Head of Data Science, you'll lead a group that focuses on rigorous, interpretable, and commercially useful modelling that is deployed, monitored, and maintained in production. You'll set direction, shape team structure, and ensure the function's work is grounded in commercial context and used by decision-makers across iwoca. The group has approximately 25 data scientists, with most working in a central team and some smaller groups aligned to specific products or domains. You'll report to one of iwoca's co-founders, who is also a data scientist. Strategic direction You'll work with the team leads and senior data scientists who coordinate day-to-day work. You'll help them plan, sequence, and review projects and maintain consistent standards of reasoning, communication, and methodology. You'll help the teams decide where and how to apply their efforts - identifying where modelling adds value and where a lighter heuristic approach could be more effective. Technical and people leadership You'll oversee hiring and development, ensuring assessment, progression, and knowledge-sharing are fair, structured, and suited to a growing multi-team environment. You'll shape how data science is applied at scale - how uncertainty is communicated, how analytical support is allocated, and how the function directs its effort to the highest-value work. Collaboration with engineering and business teams You'll coordinate with Engineering, Product, and Operations teams so that projects are properly scoped, resourced, and aligned with wider priorities. You'll represent the function in discussions that shape lending, risk, and product decisions by explaining assumptions, highlighting risks, and helping senior stakeholders act on analytical insight. The requirements Essential Strategic leadership: You have experience setting data science strategy and aligning work with commercial goals. You can translate technical modelling for senior stakeholders, make assumptions explicit, and shape the decisions that follow. Production experience: You have managed the full lifecycle of models in production - deploying, monitoring, and retiring them. You are comfortable coordinating chains of model dependencies across different teams. Commercial acumen: You understand how modelling supports business decisions and know when to make trade-offs between depth, delivery time, and value. Team development: You have a track record of hiring and developing data scientists, and establishing consistent standards for planning, peer review, and methodology. Technical background: You have a background in probability, statistics, or a related quantitative field such as mathematics or physics and can evaluate analytical work for conceptual soundness.
