As a Gas Network Shift Operations Engineer you will develop detailed knowledge of all NGN gas systems, our characteristics, behaviours, and how to develop the regular forecasts and balancing strategies necessary to maintain supply, and to publish this information to National Gas. Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities Develop strategies that ensure system balance and gain sign off from the shift lead prior to publication Manage the remote plant and equipment associated with the daily balancing of the network, including offtakes, storage sites, valves and regulators to ensure that network capacity requirements are met Handle alarms generated by the network, analysing such in conjunction with the shift lead to raise faults and ensure an appropriate response is secured, based on the defined alarm response and assessment of prevailing conditions Manage the daily maintenance activity on the network both for planned and unplanned maintenance as well as non-routine activities to ensure that network capacity and resilience requirements are met Support the department during Network Gas Supply Emergencies or equivalent exercises to meet NGN statutory obligations Provide cover arrangements for the 24/7 function and additionally provide cover for the other functions working weekdays within the EMC What we are looking for Degree-level education or equivalent within a technical discipline Ability to demonstrate technical knowledge and experience of successful project planning and co-ordination on a range of work types Excellent problem solving and analytical skills Effective communicator written, verbal, and numerical Previous positive work / engagement with external stakeholders If you are passionate about ensuring the safety and efficiency of gas networks we would love to hear from you! Operational Response Engineer Starting salary from £42,354 Operational Incentive scheme plus a van Permanent position located at our Hull depot 41.25 hours per week We have an amazing opportunity to join us as an Operational Response Engineer (ORE) in our well-established team in Hull. You will play a huge part in ensuring our network have hot water and heating throughout the year providing a customer first focused approach. The role of ORE is an essential one as you will be the first point of call for gas escapes, investigations, maintenance and replacements. Your role really does make a difference to our customers, as you will be responsible for ensuring emergencies and works are managed in a speedy and safe manner. You will need to hold your CCN1 / CESP1 or CMA1 certificate and be Gas Safe registered (proof of which will be needed when you are invited to interview) with at least a full years' experience and hold a full UK driving licence. The successful applicant will form part of a close knit, dynamic commercial team and will be required to support the Commercial Manager and the wider commercial team in maximising commercial value, reducing risk to the business and assisting with the delivery of all specific business outputs and targets. The Quantity Surveyor role is responsible for a portfolio of replacement projects and contracts ranging between £10k to £500k. The Quantity Surveyor role will be full time and due to COVID guidance will involve a mixture of both home, office and depot working. Any required office working shall be from our offices at Thorpe Park, Leeds. The Quantity Surveyor will also be expected to travel to Cumbria (Carlisle) and North Tyne (Newcastle) depots on a weekly basis. There will also be a requirement to visit the site works as and when the need arises.
