A growing, privately owned SME is seeking a commercially minded Part-Time Financial Controller (4 days/week) to lead and strengthen its finance function. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced SME finance professional who enjoys operating close to the founders, improving processes, and providing clear, decision-ready insight - not just producing numbers. The Role Reporting directly to the Directors, you will take ownership of the day-to-day finance function while adding value through forecasting, modelling and commercial insight. Key responsibilities will include: Ownership of monthly management accounts and board reporting Cashflow forecasting and working capital management Budgeting and reforecasting processes Financial modelling to support pricing, investment and growth initiatives Overseeing transactional finance and improving controls Developing and refining reporting dashboards (Xero-based) Supporting strategic decision-making with clear analysis About You We're looking for someone who: Has experience operating as a Financial Controller (or strong Finance Manager ready to step up) within an SME environment Is confident using Xero and comfortable optimising its reporting capability Has exposure to financial modelling (cashflow, scenario analysis, growth modelling) Is hands-on, pragmatic and commercially aware Enjoys working closely with entrepreneurial founders Ideally ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified (or qualified by experience in SME settings) Why This Role? 4 days per week (flexibility around how this is structured) Genuine influence in a growing business Broad, end-to-end finance exposure Opportunity to shape reporting, controls and commercial insight This would suit someone looking for senior responsibility with flexibility - without sacrificing commercial impact.
