About the role Every summer Buckingham Palace opens its doors to the public from July to early October, offering a unique opportunity for visitors from around the world to experience this iconic Royal residence. By joining our team, you will help to create memorable moments for thousands of visitors. We have three roles available, each will allow you to showcase your customer service skills, while enjoying a rewarding summer job that directly supports Royal Collection Trust's charitable objectives. Ticket Sales and Information Assistant As the first point of contact for visitors, you'll guide them through their booking, provide information about our sites, and ensure they have everything they need for their visit. Key Responsibilities: Process ticket sales and customer queries efficiently via telephone and in person at our ticket counters. Use our computer-based systems to manage bookings and provide accurate visitor information. Upsell items such as souvenir guides, e-subscriptions, and gift aid donations where appropriate. Retail Assistant Working across our shops and sales points, you'll help to deliver a seamless shopping experience for thousands of customers. Key Responsibilities: Greet customers and provide knowledgeable advice on our range of products. Help your team reach sales targets while delivering an exceptional customer service. Replenish stock on the shop floor and maintain visual displays to ensure an efficient and enjoyable shopping experience. Visitor Services Assistant / Warden Occupying a number of posts along the visitor route, both indoors and outdoors, you'll ensure every visitor has an exceptional experience from from the first hello to final farewell and everything in between. Key Responsibilities: Welcome visitors, answer questions and provide information about Buckingham Palace and its history. Ensure the safety and security of visitors and the site. Monitor visitor flow, support access requirements and audio guide distribution. Contract options and hours: Multiple contract periods available, with some limited part-time opportunities (3 or 4 full working days per week). Most of our roles start in June but a full breakdown of start dates can be found in the candidate information pack. Guaranteed to work a minimum of 350 hours (for full time positions) during your contract. Oversee stock control and visual merchandising, maintaining the high standards expected in all retail areas. Participate in and deliver training sessions, offering continuous coaching to team members. Visitor Services Team Leader Leading our team of Visitor Services Assistants (Wardens), you'll ensure every visitor has an exceptional experience from the first hello to final farewell and everything in between. Key responsibilities: Manage daily operations, assist with special events, and ensure the highest standards of visitor care are upheld. Take charge of daily briefings and operational oversight, ensuring the smooth flow of the visitor route as well as the safety and security of visitors and the site. Act as an escalation point for visitor concerns or issues. About you Essential Criteria for all roles: We are looking for individuals who are passionate about delivering outstanding customer service, thrive in team-oriented environments, and excel in clear and effective communication. All of our roles require experience working in a supervisory capacity.
