A new post has become available which follows significant investment in our Community Diagnostic Centre. The successful candidate will support also general radiology, assist in the smooth running of the Directorate and work with colleagues in the provision of an effective and efficient service. The post will be based at Chorley and Preston Hospital and also our local CDC site, Healthport. The candidate should have completed the radiology training (be within 6 months of CCT or have obtained CESR) and should have sufficient skills to be able to independently report MRI, CT and US examinations within their areas of subspeciality expertise. Main duties of the job You will join a committed and friendly team of 5 Chest / Cardiothoracic Radiologists with various subspeciality interests including cardiac imaging, lung biopsy, ILD, PET/CT and Post-mortem CT. The team currently supports 13 Chest physicians, with whom we have a close relationship, also with a wide variety of clinical interests, including lung cancer, ILD, asthma, interventional bronchoscopy, and pleural intervention. There will be opportunities to develop any of these further as well supporting expanding clinical interests such as the pleural service and innovative interventional bronchoscopic techniques. There are weekly Lung Cancer MDTs, a general chest clinico-radiological MDT and bi-monthly regional ILD MDTs. LTHTR is a cancer centre and is the central hub for the regional ILD service. Duties will include all those duties normally expected of a radiologist in a similar sized Radiology department in the United Kingdom. The majority of the appointee's time will be spent on clinical duties. In addition, the appointee will be expected to take part in the formal teaching and on-going audit programmes within the directorate as well as a full range of management duties commensurate with this role. The successful candidate will also be expected to provide cross sectional imaging reporting and support for various MDT's. The post will involve 10-programmed activities of imaging support (8 DPAs plus 1.5 SPAs and 0.5 for on-call). The ability to train and supervise junior medical staff and medical students Understanding current NHS management systems including clinical Governance and Risk management Proven ability to lead radiology discussion within sub-specialty MDTs Evidence of attendance at appropriate professional meetings/courses Additional Sub-specialist areas of interest and experience Previous participation in a management role A willingness to innovate and develop additional services Personal Able to communicate and liaise effectively with patients, relatives and with colleagues in all disciplines. Written communication in a clear and conscientious manner Ability to supervise and direct junior medical staff and other colleagues. Proven ability to work as a team player in a multidisciplinary team.
