About This Role This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Buyer to join a fast-paced engineering organisation, playing a critical role in supporting operational and project delivery. You will be responsible for ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials and services, directly contributing to production efficiency and business performance. Working closely with engineering, production, and supply chain teams, you will act as a key link between internal stakeholders and external suppliers. This role offers the chance to influence supplier strategy, drive cost savings, and support continuous improvement initiatives within a dynamic and innovative environment. Key Responsibilities Source and procure engineering materials, components, and services in line with project and production requirements Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms with suppliers to achieve best value Develop and maintain strong relationships with new and existing suppliers Monitor supplier performance, delivery schedules, and quality standards Collaborate closely with engineering, production, and planning teams Manage purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and timely processing Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements Ensure compliance with company policies and procurement procedures Maintain accurate procurement records and reporting Requirements Proven experience in a Buyer or Procurement role within an engineering or manufacturing environment Strong negotiation and communication skills Good understanding of engineering materials and supply chains Ability to read and interpret technical drawings/specifications (desirable) Highly organised with strong attention to detail Proficient in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities If you are interested in this position, please apply with your CV in full confidence.

About the Role This is a hands-on purchasing position where you will manage the full procurement cycle- from sourcing suppliers and obtaining quotes to negotiating contracts and ensuring timely delivery. You will work closely with engineering, production, and supplier teams to maintain efficient supply chains, control costs, and uphold quality standards. The role is perfect for someone with experience in engineering or manufacturing procurement, who understands technical requirements and can balance cost, quality, and delivery priorities. Key Responsibilities Source and procure engineering materials, components, tools, and services Evaluate supplier quotations to ensure best value for cost, quality, and delivery Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms with suppliers Issue purchase orders and track deliveries to ensure deadlines are met Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation Build and maintain strong supplier relationships while identifying new sourcing opportunities Monitor inventory levels in coordination with warehouse and production teams Resolve supplier issues, including delays, quality concerns, or discrepancies Ensure compliance with company policies, health & safety, and industry regulations Support continuous improvement initiatives in procurement processes Key Skills & Competencies Strong negotiation and supplier management skills Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities High attention to detail and accuracy Understanding of engineering materials and technical requirements Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Proficiency in procurement systems and Microsoft Office (Excel) Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field (preferred) Proven experience in purchasing or procurement, ideally in engineering or manufacturing Professional procurement certifications (e.g., CIPS) are advantageous
