A Technical Author who can utilise a strong knowledge of vehicle systems and apply this to creating content for upcoming new vehicles? CAD-IT are seeking an Automotive Technical Author to join a friendly and collaborative team, to develop, write and deliver technical documentation for a well-known automotive OEM. You will join a business who deliver technical publications for a range of leading automotive, aerospace, rail, industrial, construction and agricultural manufacturing customers. We are interested in dynamic, engaging individuals with relevant qualifications and/or experience in related vehicle technician, master technician, vehicle engineering, electrical, mechanical, diagnostic, body repair or technical documentation fields. Person Specification: Strong automotive system knowledge and hands on experience is a must. Electric and Hybrid knowledge would be an advantage. Good level of IT literacy in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel PowerPoint). XML, HTML experience would be beneficial. Experience with CAD and authoring software is desirable. However, training can be provided. Ability to deliver quality and consistency in a highly demanding environment. Proactive, flexible, and able to work independently. Good communication and professionalism to liaise with technicians, engineers, and senior management. Ability to solve problems and deliver solutions is essential. Technical Authoring competence or experience would be beneficial we will provide training on all Technical Authoring software! Role Details: Working closely with Aftersales and alongside engineering, the Automotive Technical Author role is focused on one or more of the following workstreams: 2D/3D Workshop Manual/Process Instructions 3D Electrical Information towards diagnostics Text and illustration-based Service Communications 3D Illustrated Parts Catalogues 2D/3D eLearning Modules 3D Description & Operation Owners Literature Illustrations Authoring Responsible for the creation of technical information to support vehicles in Aftersales. Plan, manage and deliver projects against a project plan on time and to a high standard. Collaborate with technicians and engineers to gather technical information and author accurate and robust content. Use and manipulate CAD for use in technical content. Update and maintain technical content to align with engineering changes as well as internal and external feedback. Arrange and support physical validations of authored content when required to ensure correct information. Follow quality processes and carry out sign off ahead of publish. Why CAD-IT? CAD-IT are currently looking for a highly motivated and experienced Project Manager to join our Technical Content team providing technical publications for a well-known automotive OEM. What you'll be doing: The successful candidate will join the technical content team responsible for leading and facilitating the scoping, design and delivery of various technical aftersales projects. You will report directly to the Head of Technical Content and be responsible for the following: Agree project objectives , benefits and plans for delivering these with your project stakeholders Define project tasks and manage resource requirements accordingly Lead on the creation, ownership and maintenance of project documentation, for example; exception reports, risks and issues logs, user stories for Agile based projects Develop and manage project schedules and progress updates Provide direction and support to project teams Liaise with all key stakeholders including relevant internal departments and global teams Manage quality assurance Continuously monitor risks and issues Manage exceptions and changes in programmes and projects Provide input to relevant review meetings and represent the company as required Any other ad hoc management responsibilities as they arise Your Skills and Experience: A proven and successful background in project delivery at a senior level, and a broad range of project management skills, eg PRINCE2, PMP, SCRUM Experience of working in an Automotive environment or Engineering environment Experience in sprint planning, backlog maintenance, facilitating daily stand-up calls, sprint reviews, capacity planning and sprint retrospectives Familiar with tools such as Jira and Confluence Experience of collaborating closely and building excellent working relationships with customers, partners, and on-site technical teams Pro-active and pragmatic with regards to problem-solving Why CAD-IT?
