What tasks await you? Administration, configuration, and implementation of databases in a demanding high-availability environment (Oracle) Planning and provisioning of new databases Automation of existing processes Performing database migrations, patches, and upgrades Consulting and support of projects Ensuring that storage and archiving procedures work smoothly Close collaboration with technical, application-related, and operational colleagues to ensure database integrity and security Installation of new applications and adaptation of existing ones Participation in on-call duty Who are we looking for? Your role in the team We are seeking an experienced Splunk Engineer (very much with a DevOps mindset) to join our Berenberg's Investment Banking Technology department. They will be expected to closely collaborate with a wide range of different teams (infrastructure, development, InfoSec etc). This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our Splunk environment, ensuring the effective monitoring and security of financial systems and data. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of monitoring and observability tools and possesses the necessary skills and experiences to administer and operate them in an on-prem as well as cloud environment. What will you do? Splunk Enterprise Administration: Responsible for ensuring the overall health, stability, and performance of the Splunk deployment through regular maintenance, including patching, version upgrades, and performance tuning. This includes implementing best practices for patch management to keep the Splunk environment up to date, secure, and compatible with current infrastructure. Data Source Onboarding: Skilled in the end-to-end process of onboarding various data sources into Splunk, with a focus on diverse financial applications, security devices, network appliances, and cloud environments. Observability: With a clear trend to enhance traditional monitoring with observability, the engineer should be familiar with tool sets as well as the approaches that underpin a successful observability approach. Collaboration: Proven ability to collaborate with incident response (IR) teams and provide actionable insights during (security) incidents. Furthermore, support other teams in their adoption journey with Splunk in particular the use and implementation of effective and efficient dashboards, alerts etc. Who are we looking for? 5+ years of experience as a Splunk Engineer, ideally with a background in the financial services industry, with solid in-depth experience in administering and operating a distributed Splunk Enterprise setup.
